Is it me or is BK broken? I don't get a list of my games anymore, page is mostly empty

Aganju:  I had that happen to be before  too,  it is caused by one of your games having a problem, once  your opponent plays your games show up again,  I couldn' figure out which game it was on mine becaue I play alot of games, but once that game ends the problem solves itself.  Fencer helped me with that a few months ago.   You can see your number of games but on your page to play the games it doesn't show up.  Hope this helps

The system is sometimes odd.
For example, I can access to my mailbox only from the main page. It's impossible for me from another page, even by clicking on "mailbox" on the left. It's strange. Fortunately, it's not very annoying.

Here’s a bug I have never seen before.

Clandestine 1:Wild! And it's made even stranger by the fact that auto-pass is on, so it's not like your opponent would even have the opportunity for some impossible "magic move". If Fencer isn't able to resolve in a reasonable amount of time, hopefully your opponent would agree to resign since it was almost certain they were going to lose before the glitch.

Carpe Diem: Yes, I agree, in this case the opponent should give up. It's fair play.

I am wondering if anyone else is having their chats and messages on the game pages disappear?
I no longer see them. Just the current message from my opponent. All others have disappeared from my games. Including older finished games.

Walter Montego: You have probably clicked on "Hide message archive" accidentally. Click "Show message archive" at the bottom of the particular game page.

I must have clicked it accidentally. I never even knew it was an option.

how can i not lose games ?

painter: Vacation days are applied automatically. They won't help those games that don't allow vacations/days off.

painter: You can change your vacation days very 30 days. Have done that recently?

I change my vacation days almost every 30 days plus. It is more than 30 days in true fact.
The "weekend" protects your started games to run out of time during these days. You can change this selection once in 30 days. The last change was made 2. April 2025, 23:05:04.

Thursday and Sunday

Painter might be able to change his days.

What if your on holiday for a week ?

painter: Automatic vacation: This feature (available for paying members only) adds even more protection to your games to avoid sudden timeouts. If it is turned on (on Settings / Calendar page) So make sure you click that box. That's all you have to do. Checking what your weekend days are only for those 2 days in that particular week. Just click automatic vacation, its the only option brainking has.

If your away for a week you lose games

painter: You personally have 34 days of vacation time. You would use 5 of those vacation days, plus the 2 days you choose for your weekend for your one week vacation your referring to.. So you're good for 6+weeks as long as your not playing games with no vacation days allowed.

Lots of Brainking downtimes, reboots and outages - does anyone know what's happening? Not sure if it is good or bad news...

As a paid member I thought you do not see adverts.
At the bottom of the page is an advert in big text that you cannot miss. I find it very annoying seeing that advert on every page, especially when I make moves in my games.
So how much is Fencer making for showing that advert?

beach: Those are good points. Brainking has a very robust tournament system. It is very flexible. The Goldtoken clubs offer great tournament options. I really enjoy the wiki platform, it allows members to get creative. I do agree they can be frustrating. I run a club there and have put a lot of creative effort into my wiki tournaments. The one area I differ a lot on is the sense of community. I don’t think Brainking holds a candle to Goldtoken with regard to overall community. And I point to a significant statistic. On Goldtoken 80 to 90 % of the members have a paid subscription. Brainking is the opposite. I have been on both sites for over 20 years and feel strongly about this. I enjoy this site and plan to continue being a paid subscriber. Okay I’m done blabbing on and on.

Smiler.: Since you joined BK in 2019 and Fencer made an announcement on Jan 1 2017, I thought I'd copy it for you. At least he gives you back a day on your membership even it the site is only down minutes but my point is absolutely nothing will be done as explained below:

As you probably know, BrainKing will be 15 years old this year and it is also the last year when it would have an official support. Many things changed since October 2002 when the site had been launched and I think it's only fair to our members if they know (in advance) what they can or cannot expect.

1) BrainKing is guaranteed to be running at least to the end of 2017. After that, nothing will be guaranteed. For instance, the site could become offline for a longer time, an unexpected error could break some important features, games could timeout for no logical reason, etc. Since BrainKing is quite a mature product and was programmed to self-repair many usual issues, it is not unlikely that none of these scenarios would happen - but still, it's good if people are aware of that.

2) There will be also no refunds for any kind of membership subscription. I will link this post from the Paid Membership section, so everybody would be informed that purchasing a membership is risky and not recommended to people who expect a service that continuously operates at a peak effeciency without any downtime.

3) It is also possible that, starting January 2018, BrainKing could be suddenly taken down without any warning. If it happens, memberships that would be still active will not be cancelled and their counter of remaining days will be stopped during the whole time of inactivity.

However, there is still a chance that a real game enthusiast would buy BrainKing and restart the development of new games and features. So, if you are interested or know someone, feel free to contact me. Serious offers only, please.

I have ben with BK for quite a number of years but due to the slownesss lately I am considering not to renew my membership. I cannot aboye slow internet.
