Retired on 2700
About ratings etc...I'd like to put forward a sensible point across.

I find it very hard on this site to play a good competitive spiderline 4 game as the strength & depth isnt as good as IYT, but I realise this site is relatively new but its progressing well with some good IYT players coming here..this is great news for the site as a whole!

Because I like to play spiderline4, & take a look at my profile as I aint got many games going, I only really like playing over 2000 ranked players in a 2 game MATCH & there arnt many on here...this makes sense for BOTH parties involved...but when I invite a 2000+ player to a game, WITH the opportunity to cancel it & start a 'fairer' match up instead, I dont expect to get a message back from this 'particular' person saying that Im an 'easy point grabber' & Im 'protecting' my ratings! lmao!!

I would like this person to take a good look at my spiederline4 games & see that the majority of my matches are against the VERY best players on here...If I was 'easy point grabbing' or 'protecting' my rankings, then SURELY I would AVOID these top players! BUT NO IM NOT AVOIDING them coz they are the kind of good competitve matches that keep me playing this excellent stratergy game on THIS site!

I think people should just chill out more & stop getting paranoid by thinking there being persecuted...If they want to play then fine, if they dont want to play, the fine again! Its only a game & theres alot more serious things in life than this.

Oh I havnt metioned who his person is, but I srongly agree with them that there should be different ranking points for black games, as its harder to win on black.

Take care readers, & have fun'

Matt :)

I'm not sure what the big deal is about playing a much higher ranked player. First of all, there is a decline key. This entire thing could have been avoided had the invite just been declined. I see no reason that someone would get upset. If you don't think it is fair, decline it and move on. Secondly, regardless of the game, I would jump at the opportunity to play a higher ranked player. The points I lost would be minimal, if any at all depending on the ranking difference and I might actually learn something by playing a higher ranked player.

I can't either understand this fuss about 'easy point grabbers'. There aren't that many (talking about spiderline) players in this site and some of the top players are already playing continuously against others. I really can't see any good reason for 2000+ players to decline invitivations from let's say top 5 players. I mean in the sense of protecting their ratings, of course if they just don't want to play it's always possible to decline the invitation. The bigger rist for losing ratings is always in the player with higher rating. And the only way to get better is to play against better players and learn from these games.

I would say that current top 3 players in spiderline are all truly great players not some rating grabbers. Look at their games and you can see that play against any kind of players and usually 2-game matches. All these other small-minded rating fanatics could learn something from them. After all it's only a game and ought to be fun for everyone.

Rgds,
Pekka

SPIDERMAN, I know you are one of the best spider players here. I have looked at your profile and know you have played a lot 2 game matches against the top players. I'm not trying to put you down.

However sending an invite to me and then declining mine with the colors switched really does look like protecting the rating to me! If you were not thinking about ratings why would you refuse to play black against me? You prolly would have won anyways.

I'm sorry if i offended you and i hope we don't have to hold a grudge. I'm not very good at that :)
