I agree with Kevin. Timeout and resign should be worth 1xcube if the loser already has pieces off. I fail to see why timeout/resign should be penalized as there is no way more than 1x points could be lost even if the game had been played out.

But timing out or resigning before bearing off any pieces is a tricky situation because there could be a possibility that checkers can be sent back to bar. Maybe 2x points should be given after resign/timeout if all opposing pieces have passed each other and 3x otherwise.

Otsikko: A bug?
The "show games with me only" feature on profiles doesn't seem to be working. When i click there i still get same list of games shown. The link changes to "show all games" though.

Weird links coming up sounds like some kind of spyware is messing with your computer. I suggest downloading spybot from http://spybot.safer-networking.de/ and Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Most likely those programs will find the problem and fix it.

Fencer, if you're planning on making the independence days of all nations public holidays here at BK there won't be many regular days left in a year.

Rose, we're not too many. There are a bit over five million people in Finland, most of them speak finnish. Other than that the finnish speakers are few and far between. If we're to discuss linguistics more i think we'd better move on to more appropriate forum :)

harley, it sounds like that to anyone who speaks english. That nickname has followed me since i was a kid and didn't know a word of english. I'm not planning on changing it just because it sounds like a girls name in some language :)

Rose, it is a twist from my last name. It means a kind of cement or putty.

Most of all i'm sorry i brought the whole subject up in the public boards. Allthough i didn't mention any names. I've said more than enough so i won't say more. He seems like a reasonable guy although we don't agree on everything :)

But there seems to be one more mistunderstanding. Everyone says kitty and she. You guys should learn Finnish to understand that kitti does not sound feminine at all :) Or maybe i should change the name :)

SPIDERMAN, I know you are one of the best spider players here. I have looked at your profile and know you have played a lot 2 game matches against the top players. I'm not trying to put you down.

However sending an invite to me and then declining mine with the colors switched really does look like protecting the rating to me! If you were not thinking about ratings why would you refuse to play black against me? You prolly would have won anyways.

I'm sorry if i offended you and i hope we don't have to hold a grudge. I'm not very good at that :)

Otsikko: Re:
Harley, thats exacly what i did.

But that doesn't solve the real issue: one can manipulate the ratings by choosing who you play against and which color you use.

Otsikko: Re: auto refresh
I also think that autorefresh is pretty much useless and should be disabled atleast until the server issues are solved. I've turned mine off ages ago. I usually keep brainking in one browser window even if i'm browsing other sites or doing something else on the computer. I'm sure i'm not the only one who does this. If i had auto refresh on i'd be generating lots of unneeded requests to the server. I bet many don't even know about the auto refresh and are stressing the server needlessly.

Otsikko: Twisting the ratings
People who decline invitations because their rating might drop if they lose bug me. I just got an invite to play spider line4 with me playing black. In this game white has a huge advantage. I accepted the invition and sent him invite for another game with me playing white to even things out. But he declined the invite saying that he doesn't want to risk losing many points (he has much higher rating than me) by playing black against me!

I really can't understand such behavior. Are the ratings really more important than fair play to some people? Maybe there should be different ratings for black and white in each game.
