Vikings: I used to think that anti-back was the game that allowed the maximum number of moves. No. I have seen a game of regular camelot on Goldtoken that lists 939 moves. the outcome (draw) was obvious after about 100 moves, but they continued at it for 800 more. And to top it, the game lasted only 3 months. Now say this game was played by the Kid and his Eminence ...

rabbitoid: 459 and counting Anti Backgammon (SL-Mark vs. Vikings), it'll probably go at least 650, I like to extend the games when I am in control just to see who will resign

Vikings: In theory even a simple backgammon game could go on forever (spread pieces, take, throw back and so on) but the odds are against it. Cloning BG seems a good candidate too, with the ever growing number of pieces but I can't find a good example.

LOL, and have you compared the number of doubles (esp x6s) we have each had in this game!!!

Will join you in the NeverEnding anti-backgammon tourny

SL-Mark: I wasn't talking about our match, it's a good see-saw match,II was just using it as an example of my longest going current match.
And yes, I was the first to sign up

Mousetrap: Well... I can show you a game (in a prized tournament) with 92 moves that is running since January 2009. More than 3 years ago. They would take more than 15 years to make this 1442 moves! :)

Otsikko: Re: Slow fun game
Gabriel Almeida: A little math: that's 92 moves in 2 years = 730 days.
number of days needed for 1440 moves would be 1440 * 730 / 92 = 11426, 31 years.

Filip, will brainking still be here in 30 years?

rabbitoid: Wrong calculation, my friend. In fact, it's more than THREE years. More than 1100 days, in this case.

So... 1440*1100/92 = 17217 days. More than 47 Years!!!!

However, in brainking, this seems to be right, because "players are only using properly their time limits to move". Opinions...

By the way, we are talking of a Backgammon game. 7 points. 3 Years... and counting. It's not in the middle, yet...

P.S. - I'm not criticising directly those players. I really like them (one of them in particular), he/she is a nice player, and I don't want to offend him/her. I say is that rules should avoid that kind of games.

Mousetrap: Wow, I'm truly impressed. You've even lost count of the years, It's just had its fifth birthday :)
Still that's a very good pace. 5 years is about 1800 days, 1440 double moves, that's better than a move a day, with the inevitable periods of absence.
