I'm trying to decide which is more valuable. a queen vs chancelor,or maybe archbishop? or can the 2(archbishop/chancelor) prevail without a queen?

I'm learning exactly that Ed...when I castle right away..seasoned players pick me off pretty quick...but if I set up for the castle...holding off for a shift...I stand a good chance of experiencing a great game.but of course..when I miss the shift....work is definetly cut out for me!

As moderator....I have asked danoschek to clarify, what could be construed as an insult. He was warned, and now on hide.
Lets not let personal opinions members, distract us from discussions concerning Gothic chess.

I can understand(and agree) with the first part of your post, but the second part refers to Ed,and seems inconclusive.Would you mind elaborating so that it is understandable,as to the intent of that statement?

seems Ed was voicing an opinion, which is entirely acceptable. As is...it is acceptable to voice ours,as long as it doesnt seem like an insult.

Subject: well now!!
Walter is right in saying the bans will stay for abit.
the color of the convrsations here have been great,as of late...and althouh I consider Ed's new found sense of humor funny....some dont.
I feel there are some very debatable opinions to be discussed...but personal insults(either direct or implied) should not be tolerated. This includes myself.
We are mostly all adults, and I really see no reason we cant comunicate as such.Dont get me wrong...theres absolutly nothing wrong witha sense of humor...but lets try to keep it on a less personal basis.
I am open to comments.

does this strike anyone else as being just a bit humourous?I bet the person who wrote that fine article,redsales....is dyin to comment on it :)

hard to get a word in edgewise when in the middle of an interesting conversation, the insults re-arise,and the same ole, same ole, starts over.I believe,IMO,that Danoschek tried to maintain the topic here...but was dragged in by not one but TWO people, who of course thought it was funny.I too was asked to join in on the "lets dog Dano" agenda...but kindly declined.
this knife has 3 edges, and like juangrande pointed out...its a damn shame.

Subject: Re: Bookworms
these are good points, and brings up the issue of resignations.Perhaps with matches between advanced player who use certain forms and strategies...an early resignation may be considered proper. But for an uneducated player like myself, using "homespun"strategies...it can be rather difficult to forsee the end result of a match.Granted....when the more seasoned player has eliminated the majority of the threatening pieces...odds are very much n favor of a win,but having played a great deal under this type of pressure...its entirely possible for a comeback.IMO
