ClayNashvilleTn: ***Yes, but when someone bids 1500pts in order to receive the 500 bonus points ever round and everyone else bids in the 200 range which are reasonable bids, then it removes from the strategy the chance to get the high bid from players that are playing to be competitive.***

You said that 200 points is a "reasonable" bid...
This game is not static, it is in constant evolution. Someday it may be reasonable to fall in the first round with a 3000 bid! There is nothing that says that the bhids have to be as low as they are currently.

Walter Montego: I dont know about that either..... If I come on at noon every day, and I make my play at 12:01 and lets say I am last to move in that pond, and the next round starts at 12:02, well, I can come back at noon the next day and stil have 2 minutes to make my next turn without timing out.

But I dont think these types of games should be manditory either. It would be a nice option though. I envision playing a complete game in an hour or so with like minded peopkle who are all currently online together..... that would be fun!

I am surprised that no one has been moderated in here yet for being "off topic" for talking about the new multi player game Run in the Dark on a board for run around the pond ;)~

Before you do get banned, I have a fellowship that is for all the multi player games on brainking, including the newest addition, and all others that may be added in the future....

all are welcome to join!

So, lets see if I have this bkr thing correct.... If I drop outin the first round, is the same as if I lost to everyone else in that pond, and that everyone else jus beat me, and our bkr will be calculated against every player in the game this way each round that goes by, using the same "chess rating formula" that all the other games use?

Yes indeed, if those who are winning all of the Ponds, ie Pedro, deside to play more for their BKR than for their win total, that will certainly help those frustraed with a lack of wins total ;)

I notice that the pond games are still not listed in a persons profile under their games played and number of wins etc....

I agree with Bry.... tell us how the rankings are calculated so we can maximize our games to help our rankings. It seems that win percentage and percentage in the top 5 etc are not that important. Maybe it is more important to play in a lot of games? Does it matter the rankings of the other players in the pond as well?

Lots of questions, but thanks Fencer :)

Go to your profile and scroll down to your pond games list.... hit the filter link to change it from "running" games to "finished" games, there you go, all your finished pond games :)

Bry: OK.... I had to do mine, another waste of an hour ;)

74 finished Ponds, 38 top 5 finishes for 51%.

11 1st place, 8 2nd place, 8 3rd place, 5 4th place, and 6 5th place.

BerniceC: You have 81 finished games. 24 top 5 finishes (29%). 7 4th place, 7 5th place and 10 3rd place. You dont have any 2nd place or wins yet. The good news is that you have gotten better recently... 23 of your 24 top 5 place finishes have come in your last 44 games, 52%. Thats much better :)

I was going to do mine and pedros to give you some perspective, but since I am on slow webtv, it took me over an hour to sort out yours! Maybe someone with a faster modem can help us out?

Some thoughts..... I dont really believe that it is such a big deal to get into the top 5, if winning is not your main goal. For example, i could bet 50 in the first round and then 100 and 200 and 400 and 800 and 1600 and 3200 and 6400 all blind without even looking at the pond results and I gaurantee i would still be in the game and get a minimum of 7th place with still over 7000 points left to bid.... but I would NEVER have any chance to win one of these games!

My opinion, if you want 3rd 4th and 5th place finishes, keep playing the way you do, but if you want 2nd and wins, then you must change your strategy. Good luck!

ClayNashvilleTn: No you will not drop, bidding down to zero does not automatically drop you.....since you got the 500 bonus, you did not have the lowest bid that round, and would still be in the game.

That is the number in the html tag anyway.... removed 3 players and dont remember the name of them though, maybe you could just reinstate all of them and maybe give me their names so I can send the eligable one a messaage that they can join again? If this is not the correct number, where do I find the ID?

I have mistakenly removed a player from my multiple wins pond who is actually eligable to play. Is there a way you can reverse this so that he may sign up again? I dont remember the persons name, as I told them to just re enter again, but didnt know they were permanently blocked until today. Maybe you could just reset my removed players list for this pond? Thanks!

Stevie: Well.. they have been promised, and many people play their games ultimatly for their ranking instead of just wins and non wins.

Honeylo is a good example of how almost anyone can get into the top 5, even higher, very easily but without any chance of actually winning. Which is probably a good strategy for anyone playing for rankings, and it makes it relatively easy for whomever is in first place when it ghets down to the final several people :)

Stevie: I know its frustrating. But There will always be at least one person fall in every round. It is going to be a long frustrating game no matter. There will probably be more people become pawns before this game finishes, and the same thing will happen all over again anyway. For all we know, Grenv could bet one every round and win, there will likely always be suicide moves. Plus later in the game, people will start to run out of points to play, and there will be plenty more chances to bid low too.

Well, how would you know if some other person might not play a 7 or a 2 or whatever? Then they would be stuck in the game for another move. A zero move gaurantees an early exit.

Here is a list of people who did not read the description of the pond that they signed up for....

Maxxina, Grenv, Nothingness,Hannelore, Fra, pedro, Stromovous, Beach, and Lindaw4.

If all of these players will bid 0 next round, we can get the game back on track?

It looks like you have a lot of work to getting people out of your pond who did not follow the rules... I think you should PM everyone and have them all bid 0 in the next round to fall into the pond. The rest of us can bid 1 next round, and then normal moves after that... I hope you can get this all worked out.

PEOPLE PLEASE READ THE POND DESCRIPTIONS THAT YOU ENTER, IT IS VERYFRUSTRATING WHEN YOU DO NOT!
