Subiectul: ratings question

I am new to this site and wondering can someone tell me how the ratings are arrived at? I'm primarily interested in how for the extinction chess. I see players with better won/loss ratios that have lower ratings than
someone with a worse won/loss ratio.
Is there anywhere on this site that explains how the ratings are arrived at etc?
