Maybe not 50/50, but you're not allowing for human error. Ratings are only a guide. I've beaten people in games with much higher ratings than me - and people with much lower ratings than me have won games after I made a bad move. It happens.

Thats the beauty of games, you can't always predict who will win. How boring would that be?!
