Subject: Question...
If, for example, all the Spider-Line4 sections are complete in eddie's fast tourney 1, can it not progress to round 2 until all the sections in all the games are complete? Thanks!

7. February 2003, 10:22:12
Fencer
Uil: You have to wait until the section is completed. It is not clear who is the winner at the current status.
Kevin: No, once all sections of one game type are completed, the new round can be generated. Since this feature was never used before, it is currently available for me only. When I test in on some tournament will completed sections, I will make it available for the corresponding tournament creators as well.

Subject: Levels
Hello,
please help me to solve this problem - if one defines a tournament for e.g. Brain Pawns only, a player with this level signs up and after two days [still before the deadline] he upgrades to Brain Knight, should the player be automatically removed from the tournament because he is not a Brain Pawn anymore?

Subject: Theme tournaments
One more thing - do you think that I should add a support for "theme tournaments"? For example, a chess tournament where all players must play King's gambit. Would it be interesting or only a waste of (my) time?

I think so, after all isn't the prize a membership? It should go to someone who doesn't already have one I think :-)

Subject: Re: Levels
I agree, if someone didn't have enough slots they would be removed from the tourney, so if their membership level changes it should be the same, removal from the tourney.
And as Dream says, some tourneys are for prizes, and its unfair to the other players if a knight receives extra membership while they are still pawns.

Subject: Re: Levels
If you remove Pawns who have paid to become Knights, then this might persuade them not to become knights!! But I guess this affects so few players that it hardly makes any difference which way you decide.

9. February 2003, 12:01:33
ok
tonyh: I think, it only makes them become Knight later - after the tournament they want to win.

I do wonder whether any of us are so mad keen to win a tournament. For me, it is a good way of getting more games started, without the hassle of sending out invites.

I entered this tourney and it doesn't bother me.If at the time of entry she was a brain pawn. Isn't membership here what is wanted? It would be as if you were punishing her for joining...Had it been me, I think I would have removed myself or waited to join after the tourney. It would be the same if a brain pawn entered within the limits of BKR's and then jumped before the tourney started.Let the best player win...Just one opinion but,on the other hand I guess some people would look at it as being unfair.

Subject: Re: Theme tournaments
I like the theme idea Fencer. You could take it a step further and play just "end game" or "middle game" boards of chess, etc. For example, you could make one called End Game:Pawns...with a pre-set board of pawns ready to promote on the 7th row and a king, something to that effect.

dream: Anything that you want to give to a winner. Just describe it at the tournament description, e.g. 6-months Brain Rook memebership etc. And you can limit players signing up, just select the correct checkboxes at the tournament definition page.

Subject: tourneys..
now when we go into the tourneys and look at the tourneys that are runnin we see the ones (games)that we signed up for it says that.,..anyways when the sections are finshed can it either be put there finished or (F) for fininshed or section won by..and their name..or like the differnet rounds have it rd1 finished...rd 2 (f) then the winners name..something along those lines..this way we dont have to go into each and every tourney to see its current status...

I am pretty sure that i have missed a reply to a similer question but will ask anyway.
In a prize tournament organised by a member, in which a 6/12mth paid membership is offered to the the winner. Would`t there be a need for the winner to have to disclose personal details in order for the organiser to complete the payment details form.?

dream: I would assume you have to provide it for the winner! Otherwise, what if even someone made a tournament, their friend made 4 accounts, signed up all 4, and won a membership with the one they wanted! All at no cost to anyone! lol :-)

Ian: I'm pretty sure Fencer just needs their ID, which is found on their profile to apply the membership :-)

The creator of a prize tournament gives all prizes. It means that if you create a tournament and promise one-year Brain Rook membership for the winner, you have to purchase it and then let me know which user I should activate. That's all :-)

Can anyone help me....I am in a tourney with only one tourney game in progress at the mo., & I have 4 empty spaces for new games left, am I able to take on any more new games, or do I have to leave these spaces open ready for the next round of the tourney? Subject: Membership and Tournaments
Just a suggestion.
I have a few members in my fellowship who are brainknights, thus can only play in 1 tournament of a kind, at a time. This means that if they are in an open backgammon tournament then they cannot enter a fellowship backgammon one. This is a little disappointing for them. It will be even more so when inter fellowship tournaments begin. (and make it harder for fellowships to make up a team)
May I suggest that perhaps instead of limiting them to participating in only one tournament game type at a time that instead they can play whatever game type they like to say a total of 30 games (that number is off the top of my head) This offers much more flexibility especially for those players who only play 1 or 2 game types.

I read all suggestions and I make notes almost daily :-) But I have to put them to a task queue and postpone most of them. It is impossible to work on everything at once. Moreover, if I want to change some feature, it requires lots of tests and it simply cannot be released immediately.

Subject: question...
I was in the Fast Nack (1) (Nackgammon) tournament, and I'm now done with all my games. I already know I will not make it to the next round, but there are still other players in the section with games to play.

So now it will not let me sign up for a new tournament even though I have finished all my games in the section.

Do I have to wait for the other players in the section to complete their games, or will I be able to sign up for a new tournament before then????

Thanks
