Calling all gammon players - if you do not already belong, now is a GREAT time to join The Gammon Cube Fellowship

◙ The Gammon Cube ◙

We are gearing up for the year end tournament, which last year had over 100 fellowship members competing in a special year end backgammon tournament - and I don't know about others, but the bigger the tournament - the more I like it.

Fellowship is open to all Bishops and above. Feel free to request to join. It does not matter if you are on other fellowship teams - just join for the fellowship tournament & games!

◙ The Gammon Cube ◙ - Request membership today!

Marfitalu: That is a good addition.

Also, I don't play this enough so I do not know - but would a question about handicap in go be something that comes up for team tournaments, or are handicaps just in friendly games?

Subject: Fellowship team ideas
I'm going to move the conversation here so we can discuss a little more about possible fellowship team member options that would be nice to add.

What would be nice is a user in their settings had an option to set up the following. (With 1 set of setting being applied to all fellowship & team that they belong to) I would say for each team, but that would be a lot of settings for people to place.

  • Available to play in team challenges: (yes/no) [if turned off, captains will not be able to select you]

  • Time per turn: (yes/no) - Min days: (choice 1-14) - Max days (choice 1-14,15+) [So for me, I would choose min 3 days, max 15+. If you only wanted to play 1 day tournaments, you would pick 1, 1]

  • Time per game (fisher clock): (yes/no) - min/max time, min/max bonus, min/max limit choices [of course I don't like fisher clock, so I would choose no and not worry about the other settings.]

  • Vacations (check all that can play with): Standard Vacation, Fixed weekends, no vacations.

  • Play with Backgammon Cube: (yes/no)

    = = = = = = =

So when a team challenge is being made or accepted, have the system automatically check to see who can play what.

    Comments? Suggestions? Other ideas?

hexkid: I found it handy when I was in many fellowships, and different teams on different fellowships - for example, I was in the Halma 8x8 in Home fellowship - so I would set that as default and i could look at that team right away. (and the same for other fellowships)

of course if you are in multiple teams with the same fellowship, it does not help much.

Marfitalu: You can leave a team of a fellowship and join another any time - even though I think being able to join another team and be part of a challenge for 2 teams should be blocked - and of course when you get matched up with yourself, it should be blocked.

WellyWales: Yes, it should show up - you can actually look at the other fellowship's main page and see what team matchs are waiting - some fellowships let them pile up (maybe an inactive BIG BOSS or captain)

I like the new feature in the fellowships which show which players have not been active in the past 30 days.

Plus I'm not sure how long this has been here, but I also like the ability to remove players from a team - where I remember a time the only way to do that was to remove them from the fellowship.

Nothingness: Either you already invited them (and they have not accepted), or they have you on block.

On the fellowship page, near the bottom you can see who has been invited (and has not accepted or declined) - see if the person is listed there. I think you can delete the invite and possible invite them again (which should send them a new PM about joining the fellowship)

rednaz23: I don't think there are any fellowship just for line games, but some fellowship which deal with "all" or "a lot" of games include the line games.

    Like....

  • The Frogazons - My fellowship which deals with basicly all games except for Chess, Checkers, Gammon, and Boats. (But not the most active fellowship)

  • HOME - An "all game" fellowship, which is pretty active.

You can belong to as many fellowships as you want, so the best is to start checking a few out to see what you like. Some have a lot of fellowships, so have lots of inter-fellowship team tournaments, some have few tournaments but a lot of friendly chat. You can always join, and leave if it does not fit your wants.

...of course you could always look into creating your own "lines only" fellowship.

    The Frogazons Fellowship

Basicly all games EXCEPT NO Chess, NO Checkers, NO gammon, and NO Boats. There are plenty of fellowships dedicated to Chess & Checkers. Check out ◙ The Gammon Cube ◙ for gammon games, and * BIG BAD * Battleboats for boat games.

    We also have PONDS!

We are going to have tournaments, ponds, plus try to get involved in more team tournaments with other fellowship.

MOST IMPORTANT: Skill does not matter - as long as you like to play & can have fun, skill does not matter.

    ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼

We are currently trying to get a team together for:

  • Connect6
  • Ludo

We would like to get teams together for all our games, but currently we are focused on those 2 games. Again, skill does not matter - I don't just pick the top X players, I try to give everyone a chance to play in the team tournaments.

Check us out. The Frogazons Fellowship - A list of all the games is on the main page.

Universal Eyes: When someone request a membership to a fellowship, I believe there is an option to "ban" the person from not applying there again (It was put in place because some "bad" people would keep bothering others by over and over requesting membership to their fellowship.)

You may have accedently hit this at one time.

I don't think you can see the list of people, but will probable need to send Fencer a PM with the fellowship & the persons name - he should be able to clear the name out of the fellowship "ban" list.

anastasia: Like wekke said, they were rooks/knights at one time, and let there membership go.

They are still "in" the fellowship, BUT they can not read the boards and can not join the tournaments and can not join the teams. (So basicly they can do nothing.)

Some BIG BOSSes remove the pawns, while others keep them around since some may renew their membership and when they do, will already be in the fellowship.

anastasia: This might be a question for Fencer in case he has changed something, but how it has worked in the past (and would guess it still works now)

Once the games have started, even if you leave the team/fellowship - the games will continue as they where started.

Again, Fencer might have changed this - but I'm pretty sure it will not mess anything up.

  • We sign up for all site team tournaments for the boat games.

emmett: The only thing currently on BrainKing where fellowships compete with each other are in the Team Tournaments.

These are special tournaments that Fencer (Site owner) creates and different fellowships will put together teams to compete in them.

There is not a current way for one fellowship to actually challenge another fellowship.

Well since you are in the mood to clean up some of the "dead" fellowship, here are some more that are basicly "dead" and inactive.

  • Survivor - BB is an inactive pawn - only 4 "active" members
  • ArnieAddick's UK Reversi - 2 pawns only members
  • PENTE-TENTIARY - only the inactive pawn BB.
  • Crazy Pente - BB is a pawn - has only a few active members.
  • Rocky Horror..... - Only member is the pawn BB
  • Checkers Tournament Room - Only member is the pawn BB
  • Gothic Practive - pawn BB with only 2 other members.
  • Banda od informatikov - pawn BB, with only 1 active member.
  • Armed Forces - pawn BB with no active members
  • Boost A Pawn - pawn BB with no active members
  • Anti Socials - pawn BB with 7 active members.
  • I fell off the jungle ... - pawn BB with 1 active member
  • ALL IN ALL - pawn BB, with 5 active members
  • Truth or Dare - pawn BB, with 7 active members

Plus then you have a few fellowship where a pawn in the BIG BOSS, BUT they are still activily playing on the site - so they may soon upgrade their membership, so you may want to keep these for awhile:

  • Show must go on - pawn is BB with many members. Pawn is still active on the site.
  • INSANE in the BRAIN - pawn is BB with a few members. Pawn is still active on the site.
  • Tajná zabí tunka na jedno pouzití - pawn is a BB with a few members. Pawn is still active on the site.

And then you have other fellowships which currently have pawns as BIG BOSSES, but probable don't need deleted since they are pretty big with many active members, or have active tournaments still going - maybe find new BOSSES for them? (Or wait to see if BIG BOSS will be back)
  • Noodleland - BB is a pawn, but MANY active members. BB has only been off-line for a couple weeks. Probable find someone to take this one over. (PLUS still has active tournaments)
  • New Beginnings - BB is an inactive pawn, but MANY active members. Probable find someone to take this over. (no active tournaments)
  • Crissie's Clubhouse - BB has been gone since December - pawn now, but MANY active members. Probable find someone to take this over. (STILL has active tournaments.)
  • A WHAM BAMS - BB is a recent pawn? - still MANY active members. Still active tournaments and such. Would guess BB will be back?
  • MASTERMIND - BB is a recent pawn? - like above one, MANY active members - active tournaments. Would guess BB will be back?
  • FOR HONESTY AND FRIENDSHIP - BB is a recent pawn? - like above ones, MANY active members - active tournaments. Would guess BB will be back?
  • Music Trivia and Knowledge - BB is a recent pawn? - like above ones, MANY active members - would guess BB will be back?
  • The masters of music! - BB is a recent pawn? like above ones, MANY active members - would guess BB will be back?
  • and... Q107 Club members and... Knights Of The Round Table - same as above ones - Will be back?
  • Skolni dnuzina - BB is a pawn. Has MANY active members. Would guess you could find someone to take over this one.
  • A Backwards World - pawn BB with the name "Goodbye", so I would guess they will not be back. Have a few active members, Plus an active tournament.
  • Casablanca - pawn BB with many active members. Possible one of them would like to take it over.

OK, that is all for now!

So if you would like to be able to join a few more tournaments and such, everyone is welcomed to Frogazons 4 Plus fellowship (Skill does NOT matter)

Jules: Yup! That's why I don't remove them - makes the fellowship look even bigger then what it is!

(Still the largest Gammon fellowship on BrainKing! And in the top 5 of all fellowships which says a lot when you consider we only have the 5 Gammon Games)

We have a lot of gammon tournaments, and get into all the site team tournaments. Membership is open to all Knights & Rooks - Skill DOES NOT MATTER (as long as you can have fun)

(funny how this turned into an advertisment for my fellowship... isn't it.)

Of course some of the fellowships that have been around awhile (like my Gammon Cube) has old pawn accounts still as members, which can make the number a little different if you take those out.

This board is to talk and discuss Fellowship issues. If for some reason you do not want to join or think negativly about a fellowship, a simple solution is just don't go there.

A few "negative" post have been deleted. Lets keep things nice please.

Czuch Chuckers: You can not remove a discussion board from a fellowship at this point.

You can rename it and use it for "something else"

You can rename it as "do not use" or something - then also edit the board and make it so only King and above can read/post - then no one will be able to use it.

Or if for some reason you REALLY REALLY REALLY want it removed, you can ask Fencer and he may remove it for you.

Here is the information in the "help" section: >http://brainking.com/game/Help?ht=4

Basiclly a Fellowship is a place for a group of people with similar interest to get together. For example, I have a Backgammon Fellowship which we have out own discussion board for members to talk about the game, we have teams which compete in team tournaments with other fellowships, plus we have tournaments which are only for members of that fellowship.

rod03801: I just looked, and yes you can kick players out of your pond.

So as a "work around" would be make a pond, make a big note about it being only for members of a certain fellowship - then kick out users who are not a member of that fellowship.

More work, but a way around it for now.
