BUT why can not we just have a simple selection box, like we already have when creating normal Waiting Games. Where we can select what Fellowship we are selecting it for or creating one for......simple really

Subject: Re:
pauloaguia: That is what i envisaged when i thought of the idea.

I just wanted a place where i (as a Big Boss), could put public Invites (which i can through the Fellowship, but not via the Waiting Room, crazy) and also accept them on behalf of my Captains. I am here a LOT more than all my Captains, and it would be nice when a challenge is posted to be able to see it & accept it rather than having to wait until my Captain logs in.

As you say not all Captains are alert enough or interested enough to keep up with things like this, and all Team members as well should be able to see the invites.

Purple: Fencer will not allow Bosses to unless they are Captains of those Teams

Crazy when Bosses can do exactly the same within a Fellowship, by clicking on the link in the Team box (Create new public team challenge) and creating one for a Team there, but you can not from the Waiting Room.

I wish i knew the difference

pauloaguia: I do not see why someone in the states should have to send me (in England) money, it may as well go straight to Fencer

There was until a while ago a list of people in various countries, where what you suggest could be done making it easy. Sadly, that is now gone. They have not got a PayPal account for a valid & personal reason, yet because of this they can not get there membership, and so leaving, because no one has the time to help them with there problem.

i have done my bit, keeping them here, even paying for them to try out membership, maybe i should just buy there Black Rook for them as well

This place amazes me, in a BAD way sadly these days.

I have a friend who i made a Bishop for a while to see if he liked it here. He did and wanted to get a life membership ( Black Rook ), but has no PayPal account and a wire transfer will cost a fortune on top.
He has asked for help from Fencer and although Fencer did reply, he has got know where. So sadly now him and his friends (who have the same problem) are now leaving BrainKing.

Myself and harley created Customer Service years ago for this or anything to sort problems out and answer questions, to help people, this seems to have all but vanished along with Customer Service.

This is not a dig a Globs, but at everything this site is becoming. I love this place and have done since i joined over 5 years ago.

In those days you could post on boards and get a friendly answer in minutes. These days you are lucky to get and answer, and if you do it is not exactly helpful or understanding. As has proved AGAIN over the last few days, an argument starts.

It comes to something when we can not even help others sort problems out. I thought getting members and therefore generating income would be of vital importance to running a site like this.

Sadly as normal, i am wrong

Fencer: ahhh thanks

No not really, i have the odd smiley that does not show itself, but shows as a group of a few pixels in a block, but apart from that all BK images are fine

Only problem i had yesterday was with the Alquerque board. I know it is large anyway, but for some reason the board once loaded, parts of it looked as if they were not loaded, if that makes sense. Like not completely there.
Is there no way to make smaller Alquerque, Jarmo and Ludo boards ? (yes i know, time lol)

Fencer: OK, i will except what you say

Just so weird that up to a few days ago the site transfer / loading whatever we call it here was as fast as every pother place.

So my question is, what has changed

Oh yeah, and whats the difference between brainking.com & i.brainking.com ?

Subject: Re: Is it just me? or is this site slower than a cheapskate at the checkout counter
Fencer: ok, as i said i am trying to be helpful

I sit here and watch all these messages (and more) appear lots of times in rapid succession while a page is loading:
waiting for brainking.com
reading data from brainking.com
waiting for i.brainking.com
connecting to i.brainking.com
connected to i.brainking.com
read brainking.com
transferring data from brainking.com (this stays and waits the longest)

and all this time the page is still loading, and Fasterfox counter is timing it.

How come with NO other site i have this problem, i never get to read those messages anywhere else as it happens so fast and the page, HOWEVER big it is loaded.

Again, i am trying to be helpful and giving you any information i think may help track the answer as i know i am not the only one, and like i said the site has been amazingly fast up until a few days ago

Fencer: Without getting into an old conversation, we are trying to be positive (well i am lol)

The site has been great for ages now, BUT since about the time of the Archive, i have a dramatic slowdown in brainking response time.
All other sites, well, the other 7 open in Tabs at present load pages between 1.07 and 3.61 seconds.
Brainking varies wildly though, i can get a games page load in from 1.7 secs which is great, however, any other pages seem to take anywhere from 4 to 20 secs

Just an annoying observation, what has started this again

Nirvana: This was discussed a while ago and i think Fencers answer was something along these lines.
If you are the Big Boss of a Fellowship, you only have people in there that you choose, and hopefully get on with, and that follow the rules you set down.
You have the power to remove anyone, who does not abide by your rules.

This i would normally agree with, but with one exception, when you have been left in charge of someones Fellowship for a reason of absence. Here it might be nice to have 'suspend a person' option where all there Fellowship privileges are halted (no read/write boards, joining Tournaments & Teams etc....).

Example, look at this Madmonkeys 'Gammon' Stakes (6)

The final has just this second started, yet acording to the results a game has already finished, yet click on it and it has not even started

The section results are just loopy.

Is anyone else seeing odd things with Tournamet results tables ?
I was just looking at one, which show a 2 section Tournament.
Section 1 has finished, and the winner coloured yellow YET there are no results in the boxes.
Section 2 is still running, yet every result box has a space for 2 results (which is wrong as it is only a one game match), but the first result shows as unfnished and the second as a draw in EVERY game.
I have tried a couple of Tournaments and go the same basic problem.

I thought it may have been Firefox having a funny moment, so have tried IE and it is the same

Maybe we can think of a compromise

WellyWales & coan.net: I think this should be looked into again myself

I (like others) have no vacation days left, BUT do not really want to have to (but would love to pop on) come on line Xmas Day

When i added 6 months to my membership this year i did not even think about Xmas, now i have no days left to use, or apart from buying MORE membership can not get any more, thats why i requested a while ago about the ability to buy and 'X' amount per year if needed , after all, its still money for BrainKing

The site should be more flexible when things like this come about.
We have a site action for the month about buying membership and getting extra for what you pay, which is great if you have spare money at this time of year. Sadly, like MANY others i do not, as family etc... have to come first this time of year

I will mention more in my interview

Xmas should be a time for people to be happy, have fun, relax, hopefully be with family, play games if they have time BUT NOT be made to feel they have to be here, as much as we love the site

PLEASE Fencer, lets keep saying

pauloaguia: I know BUT i would like to know how Fencer is going to implement the site ones as there are a few ways to do it as you sort of mention in you second piece to Fencer.
We can not add them to Stairs already created for some reason, and when we do create them what games do we include, but i guess thats our choice, will be hard actually to please everyone. I think by Random section will be best.

21. November 2007, 12:06:35
MadMonkey
Fencer: Are you going to set Random Stairs for the site ?

Just if you do i want to see how you are going to go about it so i can copy in the Madhouse (like to keep things the same)

I know we can choose how to set them, either by including all games, some of them, or maybe even by setting Random sections (Gammons, Chess etc...).
Be interesting to see how you do it (if you do)

Just going through the upcoming Team Tournaments and noticed something.
Normally when looking at a sign up page (where we sign the Teams), it shows all Teams entered so far and also Team that are open to join.
I just looked at the Halma 10x10 one, BUT can not see the Madhouse Team in either list.
We already have the 4 players needed, but as it has not been entered yet, should it not show on the 'Open Teams to join' list
