Hi!
I've only just become a member of Brainking. How long do I have to wait before I can join fellowships?

I think the Bird Open for Gothic Chess would be 1. h4, which Fencer has used on occasion. And yes, there is a link now, thanks for fixing it Fencer.

GothicInventor: I think it's commendable that you would like to take steps to end the 'feud'! I,for one am glad bridges have been mended with you and KM. :-) Although, sometimes I think it's best to let sleeping dogs lie and,who knows, perhaps things will improve given time! :-) (MHO)

Subject: Re: Question to all
Kevin is right Gothic. If you can't send Dano a message, he has probably placed you on his enemies list. There is no " (send message) " link next to his name (in the profile window) if you are on his enemies' list.

13. September 2003, 04:12:51
Kevin
The only think i can think of is that he has you on his ignore (enemies) list, which likely stops you from sending him messages (i really wouldn't know, because i have never ignored anyone, nor noticed that anyone has ignored me) but that would be my only idea.

Subject: Question to all
I am trying to invite Danoschek to a fellowship I created, in an attempt to stop the fighting between us, and there is no link for me to do this. I know this does not work if you invite a BrainPawn, so can someone help me? Also, I cannot seem to send him messages anymore, and I am not sure why.

Subject: I thought people on here were such a nice bunch, and then a few spoil it.
This is not getting at the real people in charge like Fencer and Liquid etc.
But I need to point out that even though we have been talking here and on other boards about protecting women and youngsters.
There does seem to be a problem of some Bullies trying to run the site too and decide who should be where, who should say what, and who should talk or play with who , maybe they should also be looked into!!!!

12. September 2003, 02:33:55
Jason
i totally agree with what you say floosie , i havent come across any bad people on here and hopefully i wont , but i suppose there will always be someone , who will come here for things other than games . but i think of everyone as a family here and im sure other people think the same , so hopefully there is lots of support ect if anybody ever needs it ;))

12. September 2003, 02:16:03
NOT a floosie
Jason, sorry I didn't make myself clear to you.

What I mean, is people that are here just being
rude to get their thrills should go someplace else to do it.

I really do feel, to each his own. Go do or say what ever you wish to another consenting adult.

I, for one, would just like this site to be family friendly. A place where a parent can let a six year old play a game, and know that is all they are doing. A place where the working person can come relax and enjoy some innocent competition. A place where Granny can make a friend or two, and not be harrassed by a pervert.

I'd just like to see this site remain family friendly.....and I think most of the other people here would like it to remain that way also.

Stardust, as you know I welcome the idea wholeheartedly.
I have posted a message on my fellowship board informing everyone about Haven.
I can only suggest that other big bosses do the same.
Good luck!

Subject: Haven
Sometimes,we need a refuge from the everyday world. From the harshness that sometimes invades our lives. Unfortunately, there is a need for a safe place to go,even on this wonderful site. That is why I have created a fellowship called Haven for the females of this site. Any female who would like to join please message me. :-)

This is a GAME SITE. And it should stay that way!

I don't care if these messages are going to someone underage or of age. They shouldn't be here!

well fencer is the moderator here, so he will be reading it, and i am sure idf he feels it is an issue he will deal with it???

7. September 2003, 23:22:20

no offence taken Jason :o)
like I said earlier, we are all on the same side here...its a very serious issue worth discussing and finding new ideas. Also like I said earlier, I agree with Chatty, the help/info page is a great idea, anything to help & assist has got to be a positive step :o)

7. September 2003, 23:17:34
Stevie
who wants to shove the idea over to the feature board then? rather than all of a sudden everyone posts it

7. September 2003, 23:13:48
sandra...
i think what we all want is safety for our children.. and any children... its just trying to find a way that is easy for us all... none of us like things to get heated.. and so far the help/info page seems the best idea :)

7. September 2003, 23:07:36

Jason, I worked for Children at Risk for 5 years...a childrens charity in partnership with the the probation service. Not only have I worked with abused children & children seriously at risk for a variety of reasons, I have also worked with medium & high risk offenders. So beleive me, I do know the seriousness of this topic

7. September 2003, 22:56:16

a help/info page is definately a great idea!

7. September 2003, 22:54:15
Jason
lamby . i have to totally disagree with you . i know of lots of people who have been totally mislead on the .w.w.w , i never believe anything that people say on here , hehe im digging a hole now . nobody knows who is who unless they know the person in "real life" .
and the wrong sort of person could never say anything wrong to a child online because they are more clever than you and me

im not commenting any further becuse i will end up going on and on . watch the docuumentarys about this sort of thing then see if you think you can still get "the feel of the other person"

peace and good gameing to all ;))

7. September 2003, 22:52:54

I think we are getting somewhere now :o)
as long as its all sorted before i introduce my son to the site :o)

7. September 2003, 22:51:17
sandra...
yes jason, a help/information page would be a good idea.. with the names of people who can help.. like we do with the money for the meberships.. also if they want with pages/ organisations they could visit for help if they didnt want to say anything to anyone here

7. September 2003, 22:45:22

Yes we are all on the same side here :o) Just discussing possible solutions

7. September 2003, 22:43:55
Jason
chatty ,
thats why i suggested some sort of help/information page to help any of the youngsters on here , it wouldnt be hard to do and could help at least one child , chat rooms ect give tips for youngsters ( and even the grown ups )

7. September 2003, 22:43:07
Back Soon
Yes Chatty I agree, how do we know? We have to trust what people say to a certain extent, but I believe you can still get a 'feel' for a person, as an adult, but children are much easier led. All I can suggest for this site is to monitor who the child plays and the converstions that do take place with their opponents

7. September 2003, 22:39:39
Princess Kammy
im not trying to start anything here myself...and not trying to say i dont care where my child goes on the net.....i just trying to end this discussion....i agree kids should be protected by parents and hell from themselves too at times

i just feel that if there are people out there who all they want to do is prey on young people maybe an "internal" tag on the account would help this issue....maybe im wrong in all this i dont know...and i am a concerned parent myself

7. September 2003, 22:39:22
Jason
i belive schools and such groups now dont allow name tags , even on the inside of clothes , i believe this is true for our area

7. September 2003, 22:38:36
sandra...
again part of my argument here is how do you really know they are children.. any of us could of come on here and said we are kids, looking for other kids to play with!!!
And i agree about not having tags! it is like a beacon.. some of the 'perverts' will head straight for them! it is a difficult thing to try and monitor.. without knowing who is who etc...
