Undertaker.: Yes. For your BKR, we can easilly understand it is a draw. Sometimes a player can loose the game for is "hunger", so... I think Manuel M is right, you just have to repeat your moves, and then ask Fencer to draw the game. And, if Brady really wants to win it... well, just wait to see what he'll do to win it. Sometimes this is a good way to YOU to win it. Someone that tries to win always take more risks... defending it's easier. Take this advantage. Just remember: HE wants to win it, not you. So... it's "stupid" if it is you to take the risks, just to force it to accept the draw.

Good game! ;)

I agree that players should be willing to accept a draw or conceed when they're defeated. Once the outcome is obvious, its disrespectful to drag it out. Unfortunately some players aren't skilled enough to know when its obvious.

I also think there are some exceptions. There are times when I knew I was beaten and played longer than necessary. I just wanted to see how a better player would handle the end game. It was a learning experience.

Hi everybody.

I'm playing with Brady and he thinks that can win this game: Checkers (Brady vs. Undertaker.)

It's obviously a draw but he doesn't believe and refuse my offer to draw. Can anyone tell him this is a draw?

Thanks!

In this link http://www.livedraughts.com/, put here by Vic, I discovered that will there is the first World Mind Sports Games, organized in Beijing, China, in October 2008. Will be disputed 4 games: Bridge, Chess, Draughts and Go. You can know more information here: http://ffg.jeudego.org/informations/nouvelles/WMSG2008.pdf

I think Mind Games are more and more popular and maybe in next World Mind Sports Games, can be possible have more games. :)

I think David gave a shot in the foot. If this board are good and with many posts so why he said: "Anyone think of anything good to discuss?"
Maybe because nobody put posts here.
Some time ago I don't feel at home here, so I and others players decideed start to put our posts in other board, Checkers Variants or Dama I'm not sure, and you became moderator of that board and start delete posts and banish people.
In my opinion are wrong actions and help to reduce the number of posts here.
I think you must reflect about my words to do a better board in the future.
Thanks!

david upshaw: No, David, I would never consider myself as a candidate to moderator. I have a democratic ideal about "discussion foruns" that is not suitable with arrogance, as I see now...I surely would like to see people interested in checkers as moderaters of this forum, because that would take this forward. I can see many candidates for that, such as Vic, Greg Murray, Undertaker and so many others that even have already published interesting articles about checkers. This is not a persecution of the moderators of this forum but only what everybody can see...Aboute the menaces of being banned from here, I would rather prefer that than beeing part of a forum where any diferent oppinion is considered a "trouble"...As someone once said, I rather prefer dying on my feet than living on my knees...Be good!

vic: Thanks Vic. It's very interesting to know we can see the Dutch Championship to the life. For me it's an important innovation and can be helpful to players in some countries like Portugal. In my country there're classic (portuguese) checkers and international checkers, but there is only one international checkers tournament for year. Many few players play this game and with innovations like that, maybe this situation can change. I'm going put those links in some portuguese checkers blogs.

Like you said, the important is the notation :)

They are selected on their interest and knowledge of checkers and not subject to "votes" and those who choose to make ethnic or other slurs will find their posts deleted and should they repeat this kind of thing they will be banned. See the guidelines. Stardust is right..talk about checkers and you will be welcome. Start trouble and you will be history. This is not debatable so don't even try. Thanks.

Manuel M: I would support a change in moderators, but I'm not in a position to ask anyone to step down. I consider Purple a friend and I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I believe he deserves respect. He's spent alot of time setting up fellowships both here and other sites. Lets face it, keeping fresh conversations on 'checkers' is a difficult task.

Manuel are you saying that you'd like to be a moderator? Anyone else you'd suggest? As long as the majority of members in the fellowship are okay with it, I've give up my post. It wouldn't hurt my feelings... much. lol

And what's more: the games can be followed live: http://www.livedraughts.com/NK2008/LiveGames1x4_1x3.htm
a service provided by http://www.livedraughts.com/ (a good one to bookmark:)
for reviews of past rounds see: http://www.dcdordrecht.nl./ and click on "Animatie en analyse" then "Kampioenschap van Nederland" and on 1-13 to go to the desired round... (of course comments there will be in Dutch, but the notation is universal :)

Tiny note: the electronic boards do sometimes have difficulty "seeing" the pieces on the board, a bug which may confuse but is usually resolved one move later. Enjoy!

Gabriel Almeida: Each post on this board is very carefuly screened as to content and appropriateness by the board moderators and the Global Moderators. The activities of checker fellowships is well within the acceptable guidelines and the area where zero lattitude is given is when posters disparage other people. If after reviewing all this you are still offended by something you percieve as "off topic" then the proper forum to discuss it is with the moderators in private. David does a superb job as co-moderator and it will be a rare day indeed when I over rule his decisions. Nuff said?
