Czuch: Well, i am going through the Thunderbird: FAQs now for you, but i do not think anyone has had this problem by the looks of it. Most just export the file to Desktop (or wherever) then upload it to an on-line storage site or save it do disk.

My only other suggestion is to write to Mozy and see what they say, after all they must know where it would of been up loaded to and stored under. My only concern is did they bother with the address book ?

Czuch: Can you not remember the file name you gave it when you exported it (i am guessing you did Export it lol).

If not then, click Start -----> Find -----> all files and folders ----->(now in box that says 'All or part of filename' enter) .LDIF ------> click Search

Hope fully that will find it. It should be a .LDIF as that is the default Thunderbird saves it as, and should be the only one you have

Hopefully when you know where it is open Thunderbird-----> Address Book -----> Tools -----> Import (then navigate to where you hopefully found the file)

Lets hope that solves that little problem

Czuch: I have not heard of it, i use http://www.adrive.com/ to keep copies of a lot of my stuff. Its handy if i happen to be somewhere and find out i could use a file or something

Of course there is another way (depending how knowledgeable you are). Install a slave drive inside your pc, copy all your files to there or an external hard drive.

I do not save anything on my Main C: drive

If anyone used to use Fasterfox extension for Firefox they will know that since FF 3.0 has been out it does not work, unless you have modified the .rdf file yourself

If you would like to still use it, please contact me and i will forward you the modified .xpi file and tell you how to install it

Subject: Re: FasterFox
Binabik: I have looked into it

I do not know if the writers of Fasterfox are working on a update or new version, BUT the reason the old version does not work is very simple.

The .rdf file that is part of the .xpi file that is the actual extension contains the lowest and highest versions of Firefox that the particular extension has been tested on and will run in. In other words the present Fasterfox download will not run in anything past Firefox 2.*.* unless you yourself change the .rdf file.

Let me have a play, and i will see if i can do it

Binabik: From what i can gather, most of the tweaks that Fasterfox used to make to about:config are built into FF 3.0, though i do not know if they all are. You can still make changes yourself to config, but its not wise to unless you know what you are changing

I will try to find out more about Fasterfox though, i know that most of the Add-ons that are not yet compatible with FF 3.0 is because the people that wrote them seem to have vanished lol

On Facebook, when you try to pick up a points disk, it will not

Well i have to say, i am impressed by its general speed.

For me its faster than I.E. , Safari, and even Firefox, but then i do have over 40 Extensions on my Firefox lol

Brainking is not much different, though other pages i have tried with not as much information on (BugCafe etc...) are much faster.

Facebook, is fast for me on Chrome, so that must be a bonus as Facebook is getting quite popular now.

As wetware it does not appear as versatile as any of the other Main browsers, but i guess that will improve in time.

AND love the Resize Textarea lol

I have tried to shrink a couple using Paint, and they just become static, is there another program i can use that will keep them working ?

Anyone out there help please lol

As much as i know about building & repairing PC's i have a problem

A friend of mine gave me his laptop as he said it would not start up at all, so i had a look.

You switch it on, and it does its normal stuff, showing processor, memory and all that stuff, and will let me get into BIOS if i want, but this is where it stops.

It will let me boot in anything, Safe Mode, last known working config etc..... but when it does, it shows the windows logo for a bit as if it is loading, then very quickly shows you a blue Screen of Death as we call it, then starts re-booting, and does the same thing again no matter what i try

If i had time to read the blue screen it may help, but its only there for less than half a second.

Anyone bods out there have any thoughts

TigerCat: Right, here we go lol --- No safe mode needed as long as you can set the following:

1. make sure that anything you need saved is backed up to DVD or another means, if not a problem do not worry.
2. make sure your Boot sequence is set to go from DVD first
3. load your DVD Windows install disk into machine
4. reboot
5. first thing it should say is Hit Return to Boot from cd ??? (if i remember correctly)
6. then just follow instructions, as i said when it asks about formatting the drive, YES

I do not really want to go into partitioning etc... as hopefully once we have your PC up running it will be ok.
Just post here and one of us will tell you the Main things to install to have a safe PC

I am pretty sure thats all you will need to get up running, if not Gordon Shumway or someone else will say something

Then of course you will have to reinstall any of your own software you use (internet connections etc...)

Subject: Re: Task manager
Modified by MadMonkey (3. June 2008, 16:51:07)
TigerCat: If you have the original disk, just make sure your boot sequence boots from you DVD-ROM drive first

The first option you should get is Press Return to boot from DVD (or words to that effect) which of course you want to do. Then just follow the instructions. for setting up a new system.

Make sure you have the Product Key number though (25 digit code in 5 blocks of 5, numbers and letters) which will normally be on the install disk or the side of the machine, and like i said make sure you have anything you need to keep backed up first.

Its always best when problem get to much to start fresh

p.s. (edit) Do not worry about deleting anything, on install makes sure disk is formatted, which it will ask you, and all should be fine

3. June 2008, 11:08:07
MadMonkey
Subject: Re: Task manager
TigerCat: If you are having that amount of problems, i would advise a complete clean install of Windows
Of course you will need the Install disk that should (hopefully) of come with the computer, or a new one. Of course you will have to back up any important stuff either to DVD or use an on-line storage site ( ADrive will give you up to 50gb of space ).
This is a much better idea when having so many problems. System Restore is only OK if you know you have a good Restore Point.
