So if you are still having problems, it is probable some sort of spyware that is on your PC and has nothing to do with this website.

The drivecleaner problem is back again (almost certainly from banner ad(s)). It took over the brainking tab - highly annoying.

I know mctrivia called him a few weeks ago and he is ok, but no news when he will be back. I had to stop the auto player a couple of months back as it was hardly playing any moves for some reason. I think from what mctrivia said that Fencer must off changed some of the code and it was not picking up certain(well most) games.
Say hello from me

Eriisa: Simple. autopass only moves the game back to you if your opponent has actually found the setting buried between all the settings, knows what it does, and then turns it on. (The default is off).

Buz's request means "autopass on, always". Far more useful. Automove would even be better (that is, the system will move for you if there's no decision for you to make - incredibly useful for Ludo, Anti-chess and most checkers variants).

I don't think we'll get it - but we can dream, can't we?

I was offline for a couple of days with a corrupted hard drive!  Some of my games rolled over on auto-vacation (some with only one losing move left )

I would just like to offer my apologies to any of my opponents who have been waiting patiently for their games to be returned to them (or for their winners notice )  I should be back to making my average amount of moves for the next little while. Thankyou so much for your patience!

Modified by stegosaurus (2. June 2007, 19:46:41)
When I was a knight/pawn, I calculated like this:

For tournaments with 1 game for each 2 players:
X = M - 1

For tournaments with 2 games for each 2 players:
X = (M - 1) * 2

M = maximum players per section
X = number of slots to set aside

First idea is on the tournament description, start putting a line that says: "Pawns, Bishops, & Knights: XX Game spots are needed to start this tournament"

Currently - section size of 4-8 = 5 spots free (10 spots for 2 games per.)

Why not just do the following.

Section size of 9-13 = 10 spots free (20 for 2 games - which for a pawn, means NO current games)

Section size of 14-16 = 15 spots free (30 fo 2 games - with pawns not able to join)

If the border has a class name (different names for different games), people can change is to whatever colour they want with style sheets. ;-)

For future decisions like this one, if you want light colors, you can always pick the letters of the game name that are allowed in hex format and see what color comes from that.

Subject: Re: Take back move and re-instate game
joshi tm: yes... I never understood why Amazon Chess has a coloured border and Extintion Chess doesn't. The first one has no special rules to play (except for a different piece, which is rather obvious) while the second is easilly confused with regular chess...
But it's probably an extremly hard thing for even Fencer to change because, though it may seem like a simple request, many have asked for it befor, but to no avail...

Gabriel Almeida: I've got also that problem, clicking faster the submit button than thinking. But on the other hand, at real life Chess tournaments the rules are clear, touching a piece === moving that piece, if allowed.

I do not like to win for time outs, but to play the long forgotten games over goes too far.

There's another problem, Extinction Chess still hasn't a colored border. It looks just like ordinary Chess, but last night I lost because I thought I could trade queens. I would like to play those games over, if my opponent would agree :(. And of course a disco flashing popup that says: ""WARNING THIS IS AN EXTINCTION CHESS GAME!!!!"" or a colored border is enough. :).

Subject: Re: Take back move and re-instate game
nabla: Yes. I think an interesting "increase" in this hpothetic-possibility could be that a take back move should be asked before the next move of the other player. Sometimes it happens to me, speccially in checkers variants: notice a big mistake just after submiting my move!

Subject: Re: Take back move and re-instate game
Gabriel Almeida: I am afraid that Abigail is right, it would be a real trouble-maker. The problem is that people have very different definitions of what a "distraction" is. For some, it would be to leave the king en prise in a chess variant without checkmate. For others, it would be to lose a pawn to a 5-move combination.

AbigailII: Yes, that's true. Some people forget they are ASKING something to his adversary. Anyway... well, I admiss this could be a "trouble-maker". I always accept a re-instate or a take back move, in those other 2 sites. I see no merit in winning points for distrations or for time-out, and I now much other people think like me, so it's hard for us, when we are playing, that we not even have the possibility to do it. There are advanges and disavantages on those stuffs, I know. Just wanted to know what's the "oficcial position" of Brainking.

I bet those questions have been already asked, but... in my opinion, Brainking should have the possibility to take back last move, as in Kurnik (of course, if both players agree with it), such as the possibility to re-instate the game lost for time-out (once again, depending to both players agreement). Don't you think?
Fencer, is this a possibility in the future?

One question: in a pond (run around the pond) an opponent has 0 points for the current round. If I use 1 point will I fall to the pond? The next to the last player has 41 points...
