Has anybody else noted that when you are way behind in a BG match you throw several 2-1s in a row.. When you are miles ahead, and need 2 to finish, you get a double 6!

Nothingness: i've won a live backgammon match like this twice in the past year in tourneys i've been too, nice when it happens.

Nothingness: the quality of random numbers here has been discussed before, and there may be issues with them, or not.

However, rolling 7 doubles in a row has a chance of about 1:280000, meaning it is completely normal (and to be expected) that it happens once per 280000 tries.
If you consider that a Backgammon game has about 30 moves per side, and assume about 5000 games are played per year on Brainking, it should happen every other year.
So as annoying as it might be to lose that way, it is not necessarily a sign for something off - it should happen every other year.
Let's hope it doesn't hit you (or me) this year.

A few years ago I was in a game of backgammon and I was up about 50Pip and all my pieces were in my home about to bear off, my opponent was behind too far. He ended up rolling 7 straight doubles to win. It seemed suspicious to me.. Have there been other players who have experienced this? All the doubles were 66 55 or 44

im unable to accept or reject a double offer.

Aganju: HappyJ is correct. It is a 7 point match (1 point for a win). Had it of been a doubling cube match then you would have received 2 points. 

Aganju: I stopped playing Backgammon for many years on BrainKing because of that. I still think there should be a version offered here that has gammons and backgammons counting that does not use the double cube.

happyjuggler0: right, thanks. I missed that little detail, just saw it's a 'match to 7 points', not '7 wins'. But as you pointed out, Gammons and Backgammons don't count here unless the doubling cube is used.

Aganju: It has been a while for me in regular backgammon here at BK, but I think it has to say "backgammon with doubling cube" for gammons and backgammons to count, otherwise it is always 1 point per game.

If you contributed something voluntarily in the past, it was your free decision, and although I appreciate it, _I think_ it doesn't entitle you to whining, or earned you the right to complain.

"Whoever runs this site now, can you explain please?" is not _trying to help_, it is requesting something you think you are entitled to. You can ask that to amazon.com if the gadget you bought doesn't work.

But if you want, feel free to continue to request answers. Fencer is still the right person to complain to. I recommend you use the bug reporting site, or the tournament site, not the backgammon site, as your issues sees unrelated to backgammon. And you can contact Fencer with a personal message, and he typically answers those.

Aganju: while I was reading posts, I learned that Fencer stopped working on this website asking if someone will assume ownership after him. I am a member of the Translators team since the beginning, 3 years before you joined. With my background in programming, I submitted many Bug Reports in attempt to help Fencer improve his site. With time, most bugs were cleared, but not all. This was intended to benefit all users. Your statement that since I am not currently paying, therefore I have no right to complain, is invalid. If it wasn't for me (and other bug reporters), BK would be an even bigger disaster. Perhaps you should read what other paying members stated before desiding to stop sponsoring BK and leave. Here is another suggestion for you: if you don't Like what others say and have nothing helpful to offer, why don't you shut up? Evidently you do not want to be bothered even to wish a "good luck" because you're too busy with your 500 games. Some of us here still try to provide feedback. Please swallow your arogance and learn to respect others' opinions.

AlliumCepa: Alliumcepa, if you read the posts, nobody specifically runs the site. The server is kept running, Fencer monitors the server, and still owns it. Note that it's free, it comes without any guarantees, and it's use-as-you-find-it. If you don't like it, you get your money back (meaning nothing) and you are free to play somewhere else.
Please don't feel entitled to anything else just because you paid nothing to use it and found it on the internet.

Possibly the longest BG tournament ever has finally come to an end. For those of you who were playing or following Lucky 13 (and are still alive), the tournament was completed in 13 years and 3 days. 

Since Fencer considers BK a finished product and does not support it anymore (at least he does not reply to my messages), I am posting yet another Bug Report here.
All new games I create, have the “Include unrated players” checkbox cleared. Still such players are able to accept my games, waste my time and skew my BKR.
Whoever runs this site now, can you explain please?

Francine2_49: If you say your opponent utilized the resign feature, they are to be admired. Is your idea of having fun "keep playing until the end of a doomed game", hoping for timeout?

happyjuggler0: I think Guiness World records should get a call. 13 plus years for a tournament has to be some kind of record. Who would have thought age and health would be a factor in a backgammon tournament. 

happyjuggler0: Anybody stupid enough to set up a tournament with more that 2 day moves deserves what they get. I stupidly signed up foe a tournament which went for 7 years, and as far as I know it is still going, I just resigned all the games. For God's sake, I am 79 years old now, and I probably won;t be around if a tournamnet lasts 10 years.

Clandestine 1: The good news is that if playBunny doesn't know it is his turn, it will be 10 weeks if my math is right before he will timeout in his first game, and then he will time out once per week afterwards.

The bad news is that you would have to wait that long for the tournament to be over, but after 13 years I guess 13 or so weeks won't matter too much.

Anyone know Playbunny? If so, it would be great if u could send him a message that the final round of our 13 year old tournament has started. I really don’t want to win this tournament by a timeout.

Aganju: Thx for the reply. Yes I was almost sure it is like you explained. I just didn't remember to have such a situation before and as cloning BG is somehow special and has a known bug already in the programming (pip count and display issue when too many pieces on one position) - I thought I first ask around.
