Yunior Lopez is the leader and founder of Sonic Checkers Team. Since 2001 Yunior has built Sonic to being recognized as one of the top teams in the world. His teams have won more events than any other team including the prestigous World Checkers Tournament. His team has also won the 2002 and 2003 U.S. Checkers Festival in both team and solo divisions. Recently Yunior attended the U.S. OPEN in Las Vegas, NV where he tied 2nd place in the minors division and was awarded the youth trophy. His online events include 1st place at the 2002 U.S. Checkers Festival, 8th place at the 2003 U.S. Checkers Festival, 2nd place at the European Festival, and 1st place at the ICA Tournament of Champions. He has remained to build an Empire of great checkers players from around the world as he remains leader of the award winning Sonic International Checkers Team. He now serves his second year as President of The International Checkers Association, was a member of Pogo Checkers League, Pogo Checkers Association, Played in Draughts Checkers League, and attended the U.S. GAYP OPEN in Las Vegas, NV.
