This is by far my most enjoyed checkers game yet here at brainking. I played kelso line going down a man early. It is a loss for red but it reminds me of the fife man-down game. This game was drawn but look it over and comment. :)

fungame: Had it been an isolated incident I am sure Fencer would not have taken the decision he did. It was part of a ban on all public boards. Insofar as the discussion is limited to checkers everyone is welcome to post here. But this is not the forum to disparage other people no matter how much technical checker information is interspersed. Anyway Fencer decided on the ban..my post merely re-directed ET.

Purple: I don't know. I am generally not supporting Ed Trice, I don't like his behaviour, pride and certain other aspects of his personality, but here he only reacted after gooner's comment, which wasn't for sure meant as a start of some war, but one has right to defend himself. The line ET played was really too risky and unsound and his comment had some informative value though. But perhaps he could show some format and resign it finally without prolonging it forever.
So I don't see such reaction as a reason enough to be banned from checkers board, where he adds some informations about checkers here and there also. I never knew about "first" and "second position" before, now I heard at least, may be I can use it later to be better checkers player in case the game will get my interest.

gooner: No. Against all advice I took Ed off of ban and wrote "one more chance" in the board history for the Global Mods to review. It was a very gratuitous attack on another member and not the first time. It is out of my hands. This board must be for checkers discussions and not expanded to serve anyone's private agenda. This is for everybody.

gooner:

The one where he "dared me" to play the Double Muzio against him? He was taunting me on the ChessTalk forum, and it spilled over to here. I should have just ignored his challenge, but it is not like me to back down from a fight.

I did not know he had the Chessbase CD with a refutation of the line he asked me to play. I gave up a Bishop and a Knight for just 2 pawns, very early in that game, and it is still going on.

To prove to him that I could really sacrifice a Knight and Bishop against him, I took him out of published play in our next game and I won that in 26 moves. And his rating was 2700 at the time, before the celing was removed. Since that time, he was rated 2706, and I won a second game against him in our "3 wins" match.

You should comment on this game, since it shows what a player can do "without help" against the sum of all of the accumulated chess knowledge in the world.

Black is up by one piece and blatantly has stronger position.

In the White Dyke opening, ( 11-15 22-17; 8-11 17-14; 9-18 23-14; 10-17 21-14;) in this position i think the 15-18 attack (instead of the popular 12-16 or 4-8 attack) for black creates a more interesting game. The mistake here for white would be 26-23 (24-19 or 24-20 is the book move). The 15-18 black attack also makes it hard for white to make the "Dyke" ( the Dyke attack in the White Dyke opening would be be white putting pieces on 14, 18 and 23. This attack is obviously trying to weaken Black's double corner.

6. 6-9 24-19 7. 11-16 25-21 8. 16-20 31-26 *

The game is the White Dyke opening and I played black side side. Black has a winning move in this position. The problem is maybe above intermediate level but not advanced level.

This forum has never been more lively. Just a couple of points as my two cents worth. There seems to be to many people obsessed with what the other person is or isn't using in order to play a good game of draughts, without trying to state the obvious if you feel people are cheating don't play them or get involved which is what I have done. I have played everyone involved in this arguement and personally can't tell a cheater from a proper player, both Ed and Ustica have beaten me but I have also managed draws against them which I know I wouldn't have got against computers as I am not good enough. So lets take people for there word as seeing as this is the internet we don't really have much else to go on. BTW..Ed also offered to play me in Philly last year when I visited which suggests to me he can back up his words. The second point is we should all work together in order to improve our game rather than turn yet another board into a slanging match.

Just my point of view. :o)
