题目: Ludo variant
Not sure if anyone else has thought about a ludo variant where you get two rolls each turn, and you can use both rolls for a single piece or one roll for each piece...  Similar to "Sorry!".  I think it would be a great addition in an area where we have little to choose from...

Shoot me a message if you have questions about it...

Thanks,

Phil (rednaz23)

题目: ludo discussion!
rednaz23修改(8. 十一月 2006, 03:10:46)
Does anyone have any game situations that could have gone either way? I would love to spur good conversation about ludo and why one move of a piece would be better than another piece. I am not talking just any game situation here, but plays where it could go either way, and maybe even the statistical probability of good things and bad things happening after this said play!?

Anyone got anything?

I will look and see if I can find anything. :-)

First time... well... 100%
2 times: 16.66% - 1/6
3 times: 2.78% - 1/36
4 times: .46% - 1/216
5 times: .08% - 1/1296
6 times: .013% - 1/7776

Here is another example of such a game...

Well... You know, I do believe you are correct now that I think about it... because I do remember rolling just what you have said! So, you are correct! LOL... I misanswered my own riddle...

I haven't seen that... I have never seen a X-6-6-X before... I don't know if that is true...

The riddles... and the answers...

What is the most blue squares you can get on the board at once?

7! If you are really lucky and you can take three pieces out with a 6-6-x roll. It's possible! But improbable.

What is the highest total of the die you can get?

21! If you roll a 5-5-6-5!

:-D

Something I have learned:

If anyone is sent a link about auto-pass, I advise you to consider the information that you are giving out... these links come in a game message while playing ludo against certain people, possibly regular messages, or found in discussion boards. Just consider what you're doing!

题目: Re:
actionpoints: I do believe the die are based just like IYT, on the point in time (down to the thousandths of a second) you click on the game to open it up (I mean servor time)... That is when the player gets to see his piece... I tracked the dice rolls, and am sort of a stats nerd (yeah, I admit it, I have to with my job), and the only thing that really stuck out as way off, is the 6-6-5 to 6-6-x rolls... and that is because I believe 6-6-6 are turned into 6-6-5... Anyways, that pretty much makes it random, because even a system to try and "cheat" and get the roll you want won't be able to factor in the time it takes to trasmit your move to the system, plus, how are you suppose to know what each roll is associated with each point in time?

Hmmm... Oh, I always see 6-4's... that is the one that I remember getting a lot... or so I remember getting... Do the stats and you will see...

Of course I am not positive on this, Fencer would know for sure...

however... also note that you will never go beyond 5 die there either... You never see 3-1-6-6-3 or anything like that...

nivabef & SafariGal: I believe when you really do roll a 6-6-6 the system kicks it to a 6-6-5. (This is going to make me sound like a dork...) But for a short while I was tracking what I rolled... and ummm... I found that 6-6-5 was rolled twice as much as any other 6-6-x number... while there was no triple 6's. Yeah... I guess I'm a dork...

题目: Re: long games
Pedro Martínez: Looking at the top 5 or 6 players in Ludo games played, I found one with 119 moves. That is quite a few, but I am sure that there are games out there that get to that point. After looking, I think it is something if you get to 100 moves. I only saw maybe 10 total games with that. Anyone able to get over 119 moves in one game?

Whats the most moves needed to finish a game? I saw 99 in the "I love Ludo Hall of Fame..." link above. But I was curious if anyone has had a game go longer.

题目: Re: Question about end of game
whopper: I completely agree, but when I send the draw offer WITH my roll that gets me into 5 pegs or less... they can A: See they have the game won. B: Realize they now have a little less than 50% chance of winning. With those two options, if you don't "peg" in, then why not accept!? Now that I actually sit here thinking about it though... I shouldn't offer the draw, because if it isn't A, then I would be slightly favored to win...

Pedro: It is a game of luck, maybe everyone should. However, their is strategy to it, whether to peg a piece out or to move one up on 6's, whether to chase your opponent on one side of the board, or run on the other side of the board... things like that. It is a game of chance! It about taking the probability put in front of you and determining which will account for a better position for you compared to your opponent. So, no draws at the beginning of the game. That is simply dumb. Draws when it is even at the end, and no strategy is involved, and more just "dumb luck"... that is debateable, hence my earlier post.

mctrivia: I did! They replied by saying; "This is the real part of the game, this is where it actually matters!"

...what!? really!?

What do you say to that? I couldn't believe it, for I feel once you are both within one dice roll, you always have a one-sixth chance, and that is it! It is all luck! Well, this has happened twice to me now, both times I have offered draws, both times my opponent has said no, and both times I have won. There loss, they could have had a draw!

题目: Question about end of game
What is the standard policy for this for you?

At the end of a 5 win match, you are both within 5 on a dice roll of the win. Only one piece. I send a draw request. Is that unreasonable? I don't get it? Why would you want to "luck it out"? I think that is dumb.

题目: another Ludo version
Any plans for a ludo version with double dice, and a number that allows you to go backwards? Say a 4... Kind of like the game of Sorry. Rules for the game of Sorry are here: http://www.centralconnector.com/GAMES/SORRY.html
It basically says that rolling a 4 makes you go backwards, and rolling a 10 , you can choose if you want to go backwards. This rule could be changed to allow for a BK version. Oh, also, in the game, there are cards instead of dice, so the odds change dramatically when rolling the dice... You could expand on it by allowing each of the dice to be played on each "pawn" seperately or together. You could even have it when the dice are the same, it means another roll!

krybulon: You could even go farther, by having two dice everytime and allowing both to be applied to one piece, or one die to one piece and the other die to another piece. You could call it "Pro Ludo"... it expands on the current ludo, so why not?

What about a 4 player ludo!? hmmm? Sounds interesting! I personally wouldn't want to play, but some people would love it!
