Chaos:

I see the top 4 players were each put into different quarters of the bracket. Perhaps everyone else is randomly placed?

cookie monster: I'm still searching for the system of the sorting as well. My first opponents are those with the lowest BKRs, while Mark is already against lukulus who has a high BKR. Well, at least the ratings and sorting are 'objective' in the sence that they're done by the computer. I remember in the old days the discussions on rating and sorting seemed to take even longer than the tournament.

Chaos: I was just commenting that Nothingness often seems to get paired with those players who are much stronger than their BKR.

As far as the site's sorting algorithm . . . I don't think it is consistent. :)

cookie monster: players are supposed to be 'sorted by BKR'. I always assumed it meant the players with the highest BKR are matched with those with a low BKR. If, for a tournament, you are in the middle, however close your BKR is to the highest BKRs, you get matched with people with BKRs close to yours, so you are in a disadvantage.

SL-Bosse:

I wasn't talking about just this one event, but even in this one I'd guess Nothingness got the short straw. I have not played lukulus, that I recall, so I am guessing, but I have played Jozsef,

I don't agree. I have the 6:th ranking in this opponent, and get in the first round the 4:th ranked. And the winner will get the top-ranked. So I don't think you should cry.

or has anyone else noticed that Nothingness always seems to get the toughest opponents or toughest sections in tournaments?
