Brf - update

sorry for the holdup folks, been working two jobs the last few weeks and it isn't looking like it's going to let up, haven't had any time to really do much here and I've been trying to find time to look over the game positions without much success...take it as a compliment if it was easy I'd have moved already .

I'm shooting to at least get some traction here by this weekend. I apologize for holding things hostage and am trying my best to make it YOUR turn :)

well good luck to everyone in Round 2! that was extremely fast!

it does reflect the smaller tournament size I'm sure. Pretty cool though to start round 2 in April.

see you guys over the board and in the grid.

yoss: correct. More a sign of the times if you read the post I put here Pente Message Board you'll see my points addressing what you've already noticed.

Most of the better players of pente have migrated to other sites like pente.org (which I'd recommend you check out). This site used to be really great for pente from 2002-2012 but has slowly started dying a slow death I think (at least with regards to pente, though it seems online users are certainly down too). I think Fencers announcement early last year about his declining support model\desire to sell the website etc, and risks you take purchasing any kind of membership here certainly didn't help.

Also The Serious Pente Players that I run has suffered due to the requirement you have to be above Pawn level to really access it, and no one wants to shell out $$ when their current membership expires, due to the above mentioned risks.

I'm glad you signed up with us this time yoss (I do remember you from before). I haven't decided whether I'll do this again next year as I'm also pulling back my support model within the fellowship due to that lack of active players and fizzling pente community presence here.

I play more over at pente.org nowadays since the ladders, tournaments, and forums are definitely a level above Brainking nowadays, there are just more cool things pente-centric there and the community presence is much more active. It's also free, you can subscribe for some added benefits but it's not required, and you can do more there with the "Free" level than here...you should check it out :).

Brf thank you for this tournament. I remember i was playing in your first tournament 11 years ago and there were over 70 players. I am coming back after long break and it looks that most of strong players are inactive and i don't see many new players :(

Yoss, nice work closing out your section for placement in the next round!

By the looks of the grids it doesn't look like this tournament is going to take long to make it to Round 2. Nice work folks!

-------
Just saw Spavacz pulled some magic and closed out Section 2, Nice work! (that was some tough battling between you and aaru, clutch playing!)

only 5 games left in the tournament for round 1 too (and in 11 days since we started), got to be some record there as well!

Round 2 will be upon us soon it looks like!

Brf - B&G resigns

Funny thing is I had a message from someone telling me that'd they'd sign up for this tournament but that since B&G was in it he decided not too. Basically since B&G seems to always join tournaments, but apparently likes to just resign his games without playing them.

I told the individual that I had no experience with B&G in my past tournaments but that I appreciated their feedback and would see what happened. Then low and behold, we're not two days into the tournament and sure enough B&G resigns all games without even playing a single move. That first Pente move must've been just to mentally taxing for someone with 1090 games going, glad the rest of us figured out how to do that.

Regardless, I apologize to the folks in section three for having to deal with a lame player. I've banned B&G from any future tournaments I create, and even user blocked him since that kind of thing is just not cool!
