Brf: I watched this to the end. Looking forward to next year...4½ months away! I was expecting a round 4 with a 3 way tie? Congrats to Aleph_1, Spavacz, and Richard III. I'll see if I can give you a better run next year ;)

I get stuck in some serious hell in 2011 and still ongoing with Zoey in 2012 and here you guys just knock this right out in 2013. good playing Aleph, Spavacz, Rich. I'll talk to Fencer and have him split up the 1 year rook prize between you.

2 player final round = a long time to get done.
3+ final round and tourney finishes in less than 7 months. :) wish we could have that outcome more often.

See you all next year and thank you to everyone who signed up in 2013!

Aleph, Rich, and Spavacz you all played really well congrats on making it to round 3. I thought I could pull it out but made 2 unrecoverable errors that killed me...was really fun though and a very challenging round 2!

though I can honestly say that I am very glad I'm not in another 2 player final match and I can appreciate getting a sorely needed break.

Round 3 is on! good luck to you guys and thanks for everyone who has signed up and made it this far.

So, just a little heads-up, for whoever might be interested, that Brf's 5th St. Pat's -- the one that started in March 2011 -- just wrapped up with Brf emerging victorious. Congrats to Brf on a fine match! --Aleph_1

illusion5 - draw

in the *Brf's 4th Annual St. Pat's Pente Tourney* chessik and globule offered draw to each other. no one cared when they did that.

i offered draw because 1- it doesn't effect the advancement of my section any, and 2- tenuki is a strong player and i felt bad towards the end to use strong open on him under alt name, and so i offered draw to (as brf said), minimize the sbr take. it was my way of apologizing to tenuki. 3- its between me and tenuki, as draw is a legally allowed feature in the tourney, and i didn't force it on tenuki, he did accept it. its our personal business. there is no stated rule that players cant offer a draw. and it doesn't effect outcome any ways, so don't worry about it.

ChaseWinstead: the posts earlier on in the message board denote why the draw was likely done for this instance. I believe a gesture was made to minimize one players loss of BKR due to a higher ranked player playing unbeknownst with an alternate acct. Didn't change the outcome but it did relieve some of the loss of BKR to the player caught off guard.

I guess I am suggesting that at the very least, a draw should be considered somewhat suspicious in this tournament. Without being too accusatory, I am trying to give people an opportunity to suggest why one might agree to a draw in this tournament.

ChaseWinstead: on the bottom of your game board (at least when it's your turn to move) it says "Add a note | Offer draw | Resign"

if you select "offer draw" you will actually split the game with your opponent so a score of "1/2" will be awarded to each player when this is selected. Assuming the other player accepts the draw.
