Scrabble dictionary update adds to game - Thu, 04 Sep 2014 PST
Words such as bling and selfie won points with Spokane players of Scrabble, but bromance drew some quizzical looks. So did hashtag. Scrabble fan Mernie Matthews, 72, has studied a long list of the more popular new words among 5,000 recently added to The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, released Aug. 11 by Merriam-Webster. The fifth edition guidebook is the first update in nearly 10 years.

WSC veteran Arreola tops Baguio day Scrabble
WORLD Scrabble Championship veteran Peter Arreola finally got his big break here in the Summer Capital as he took the Baguio Day Scrabble Tournament over-all crown. The 2011 WSC representative finished the "King of the Hill" two-day tournament with a whopping 1,042 spread points to go with his 13 wins and 3 defeats.
