Otsikko: Re:
actionpoints: I do believe the die are based just like IYT, on the point in time (down to the thousandths of a second) you click on the game to open it up (I mean servor time)... That is when the player gets to see his piece... I tracked the dice rolls, and am sort of a stats nerd (yeah, I admit it, I have to with my job), and the only thing that really stuck out as way off, is the 6-6-5 to 6-6-x rolls... and that is because I believe 6-6-6 are turned into 6-6-5... Anyways, that pretty much makes it random, because even a system to try and "cheat" and get the roll you want won't be able to factor in the time it takes to trasmit your move to the system, plus, how are you suppose to know what each roll is associated with each point in time?

Hmmm... Oh, I always see 6-4's... that is the one that I remember getting a lot... or so I remember getting... Do the stats and you will see...

Of course I am not positive on this, Fencer would know for sure...

ive played sooo many games i think im an expert on the dice....lol

a few basic things.... 3 and 5 are most common numbers alone and after a 6 as well.
6 and 1 are hard to get but when you get them theres a big chance of recurrence like getting 6,s in a row or especially 1,s in a row.
dont know how the random number generation is set up but but its almost as if the dice pick a lucky side and an unlucky side if not for the whole game then for periods of time.
if you are having an unlucky period ...best to log off and sign on after a while and your luck might change .... on the other hand if your having a good dice spree play as fast as you can till it lasts ....lol
hope these tips are useful to any ludo fanatics and a reminder that i have some fast games waiting in the waiting room ....lol

It seems like I get 2-2-2 quite a bit in the opening rolls.

rod03801: 3 6's in a row have a stitistical probability of 0.463% about the same as getting 30 passes in a row. I beleive are record is 48 times. There should be atleast 29 times that people got 6-6-6 before a 48 passes game happened.

however... also note that you will never go beyond 5 die there either... You never see 3-1-6-6-3 or anything like that...

mctrivia: That can't be it.. I've seen 4 dice lots of times in the first turns when you get 3 dice.. Like, 1 - 4 - 6 - 3

But yeah, I've never gotten 3 6's either.. I thought it seemed strange, too.

nivabef & SafariGal: I believe when you really do roll a 6-6-6 the system kicks it to a 6-6-5. (This is going to make me sound like a dork...) But for a short while I was tracking what I rolled... and ummm... I found that 6-6-5 was rolled twice as much as any other 6-6-x number... while there was no triple 6's. Yeah... I guess I'm a dork...

Salkkuman: The player that is going to roll will have a 16.67% chance to win in that roll. The next player to roll has a 13.89% chance to win on his roll. However once the player that is going to roll, rolls and loses they switch places on there stitistical probability to win. Over all the first person to roll in this situation has a 9.09% beter odds of wining then the secound player to roll.

After looking, I think it is something if you get to 100 moves. I only saw maybe 10 total games with that. Anyone able to get over 119 moves in one game?

Otsikko: Re: Question about end of game
whopper: I completely agree, but when I send the draw offer WITH my roll that gets me into 5 pegs or less... they can A: See they have the game won. B: Realize they now have a little less than 50% chance of winning. With those two options, if you don't "peg" in, then why not accept!? Now that I actually sit here thinking about it though... I shouldn't offer the draw, because if it isn't A, then I would be slightly favored to win...

Pedro: It is a game of luck, maybe everyone should. However, their is strategy to it, whether to peg a piece out or to move one up on 6's, whether to chase your opponent on one side of the board, or run on the other side of the board... things like that. It is a game of chance! It about taking the probability put in front of you and determining which will account for a better position for you compared to your opponent. So, no draws at the beginning of the game. That is simply dumb. Draws when it is even at the end, and no strategy is involved, and more just "dumb luck"... that is debateable, hence my earlier post.

Otsikko: Re: Slow load
Rose: It takes about 2 to 5 secounds to load for me. Which is really long compared to all the other games. I also am on high speed internet(800KB/s) and running a P4 3.2GHz machine with a Gig of RAM. Using google web accelerator it use to be instint however I found that screwed with Brainking so I have uninstalled it.

Otsikko: Re: Slow load
Rose: It's slower for me too, but not so much that it is a problem. Fortunately the board is only loaded twice (or only once if you pass) per move in this game.

Otsikko: Re: Slow load
Mr. Shumway: I should reiterate that I dont clear the cache every time. As an experiment I did clear it. Nothing I do helps. I don't understand why I seem to be the only one with this problem. I'm on really good machine, a P4, 1.8GHz, 1 gig ram. I racking my brain on why that one board loads so darn slow for just me! I posted it here instead of on the 'puters board to see if anyone else was experiencing this as well. Guess I will take it to the puter board is no one else replies.

Tanks Alf!

Otsikko: Re: Slow load
Rose: I don't have those problems... Maybe you should NOT clear your cache - the Ludo Board consists of many (different) and not too small images, and if you don't cache them you have to reload them everytime you build up a Ludo page. After clearing my cache it takes longer for me too.

9. Toukokuu 2006, 18:54:04

Otsikko: Slow load
Is anyone else having to wait longer than normal for the ludo board to load? I'm on super fast highspeed Cable, fast machine, cleared cache, got rid of the chess background image on the site, stopped java script, stopped daily tips, pretty much minimized to the bare minial needed to play here and still ludo takes for ever to load. Every other game I play I have no problem with load speed. The ludo board takes ages to appear and a white box shows for a long while where each piece is located on the board. Tap, tap, tap, tap, then the board finally loads! FYI (It is slow in IE and Netscape 7 - no difference in load time)
Please don't tell me I am the only one experiencing this?

Otsikko: Re: Question about end of game
rednaz23: Yes, on a specific roll (in this case), you have 1/6 chance of an immediate win, but what matters is the overall winning chance which is not 50%. The player on roll is a small favourite (before seeing his roll). If he don't get the die he needs, then his opponent becomes the small favourite, and this will shift back and forth until one player wins. At no point will your winning chance be exactly 50 %.

Otsikko: Re: Question about end of game
mctrivia: I did! They replied by saying; "This is the real part of the game, this is where it actually matters!"

...what!? really!?

What do you say to that? I couldn't believe it, for I feel once you are both within one dice roll, you always have a one-sixth chance, and that is it! It is all luck! Well, this has happened twice to me now, both times I have offered draws, both times my opponent has said no, and both times I have won. There loss, they could have had a draw!

Otsikko: Question about end of game
What is the standard policy for this for you?

At the end of a 5 win match, you are both within 5 on a dice roll of the win. Only one piece. I send a draw request. Is that unreasonable? I don't get it? Why would you want to "luck it out"? I think that is dumb.

Otsikko: another Ludo version
Any plans for a ludo version with double dice, and a number that allows you to go backwards? Say a 4... Kind of like the game of Sorry. Rules for the game of Sorry are here: http://www.centralconnector.com/GAMES/SORRY.html
It basically says that rolling a 4 makes you go backwards, and rolling a 10 , you can choose if you want to go backwards. This rule could be changed to allow for a BK version. Oh, also, in the game, there are cards instead of dice, so the odds change dramatically when rolling the dice... You could expand on it by allowing each of the dice to be played on each "pawn" seperately or together. You could even have it when the dice are the same, it means another roll!

krybulon: You could even go farther, by having two dice everytime and allowing both to be applied to one piece, or one die to one piece and the other die to another piece. You could call it "Pro Ludo"... it expands on the current ludo, so why not?

What about a 4 player ludo!? hmmm? Sounds interesting! I personally wouldn't want to play, but some people would love it!
