Skyking, there is a known bug with the ratings lists.. It will eventually be correct.

Hmmm.. I'm webtv, and having NO problems at all... But I also didn't have any problems a few days ago when other webtv-ers were having problems..

There are a few other webtv-ers having problems.. For some reason, though, I'm not having ANY problems at all.

Subject: Green dots
AWESOME Fencer!!!!
The only thing that could make it better, is like Cole said, if there could be a dot after the opponent's name in the drop down box (Move to..) also.

Thanks Fencer! You're the best! :-D

There is a known bug on the ratings page, Fiona. I think brainking.info says that the system fixes it once a day..
I have a similar problem with anti reversi.. it says I am #3, even though my rating is actually higher than the person listed as #2.. and I also couldn't find anti-reversi on the ratings page.. only in my table of my own ratings..

I am also on WebTV
Go to Who is Online.
at the top of the chart you will see "Level, Name, Last action, etc... One of those columns will have a little green arrow by it.. Click on "Name" and the page will reload with all the people who are currently online in alphabetical order, and the green arrow will be by the Name column. It works fine. You must have done something wrong.

25. July 2004, 12:31:48
rod03801
Click the column where the names are, and it will be arranged alphabetically by the person's name.

Oh, I think I found the answer. Make someone else the captain. That works.

I PM'd mine that turned to pawns to see if they planned on renewing soon, first.. but you can always re-invite them if they upgrade again.

Maybe in the team you have to edit them from captain to player before you can remove them as manager.. did you try it that way?

20. July 2004, 05:45:42
rod03801
I remember it working correctly recently too...

It's not doing it that way either. I have been playing with it tonight, and regardless of the way I have my main page set up, it is acting weird. Sometimes it was taking me to a game that has been my turn since the 17th, and other times it was taking me to a game just moved on by an opponent online. (Which I wish it would always do!! lol)
Move and go to the Next Game in the first drop down box USED to take you to the game that had been your turn the longest.
Now it is just acting crazy..
Changing the way the main page is sorted doesn't seem to have any significance either.

Subject: Ellieoop
Ellie, I believe if you click Move and go to Next Game, you will go to the game that would have appeared at the top of the drop down box(the way it used to be sorted)
Meaning, Move and go to Next Game, goes the the game that has been your turn the longest.. (nothing to do with time left)

Did that make sense? lol

I like that the drop down box matches however you have your main page set up. However, I too miss the ability to use the drop down box to see what games most recently came back to my list..(to play them right away, assuming the person is still online and will maybe make yet another move, too)
The perfect solution would be if somehow the main page could be sorted in that way, then the drop down box could again too..
This of course, would mean another column on the main page (amount of time it's been your turn, maybe?).. and Fencer may not want another column?

The other solution maybe, would be to have someplace in Settings where you can choose, "Have drop down box sorted the old way, of being in the order in which they appeared on your main page" (less wordy than that of course! lol)..

just some thoughts..

I agree 100% Andersp ..
What's next? You can only play unrated games with friends?

You don't have to live in the same house with someone to pull of some sort of ratings scam..

It is not fair to say that a couple like Antje and Andersp should only be able to play in unrated games together..

I wasn't suggesting they were..
It was simply a tip for people who want to hide the ads, but still want to click them regularly It's a place where the ads always are, without bugging you on the game pages..

On WebTV IMupChucKing, you will only need to type in your password when you either switch WebTV users on the box, or shut the box off completely.

It is!!

Now.. I have a question.. I see in the other drop down box that Move and "go to next game" takes you to the game that was moved on by your opponent the longest time ago. (The game that has been on your game list the longest) .. Is there any way to see the opposite of that? the most recent game added? (It would make it easier making moves against people currently on line and making moves too)
I used to just go to the bottom of that 2nd drop down list and and see if a game has been added down there, and choose that one).. Now with this change, I'm trying to figure out if there will still be a way to do this..
No big deal if there isn't, as this is a HUGE improvement..

Subject: Add a note
Modified by rod03801 (2. July 2004, 07:35:57)
I thought of one other thing that I dont remember seeing listed in changes.
The way of adding notes to yourself in games has changed.. No more text box automatically there. It's now a link, to bring up the text box..

Now if we could only get the note to show up at the top of the game on your next turn..
:-D

Using WebTV, you will only have to log back in if you 1) log out, or 2) Power off WebTV completely, (or switch webtv accounts).
Simply using "Hang up", or allowing it to time out after the 10 minutes keeps you always logged in here.
Sort of an advantage, yes..

Subject: General Brainking questions..
This is in response to a post MUCH further down, from someone who was going to leave the site because they didn't get a response from Fencer as quick as they would have liked. For general questions, it might be a good idea to send them to the BKsupport email address. Everyone in customer service gets these emails, and you will most likely get a quicker response. Especially at this time when Fencer is very busy..
Just a suggestion!

Subject: Re: Message Self / Note Pad
I also send messages to myself. I have a standard "Welcome note" that I send out to new members of the Club WebTV fellowship. I copy and paste it from that message I sent myself. I also send a message to myself of the list of people in the fellowship, so that if we ever have a "time warp" like last year, it will be easy to re-invite people..
I suppose I can save this information in an email to myself, instead.. just one more step..
:-(

I have a little bit of an "in" with WebTV.. (Not MUCH of one, lol, I'm not trying to brag) And I'm going to try and find out if something has changed with the proxy server in the last 2 weeks. It has to be something that has CHANGED, because WebTV users were always able to access Brainking at the same time as the computer users, every time brainking has come back up.
It seems as though both weekends, it has been somewhere between 24 and 48 hours later, before we could access the site.. Whatever I find out, I will of course pass on to Fencer..
Wish me luck! :-D

All you other webtv users out there, please don't abandon brainking because of this.. Fencer wants to solve this as much as we do, I'm sure!!!

I can't promise I'm going to find anything out, but I'm going to try..

Bernice, If you mean you want to play the games that are closesst to timing out, Click on "Time Left" column, and your main page will then be arranged according to the games that have the least time left. Clicking on any of the column headings there changes the way your games are listed.
If this isn't what you meant, I'm sorry.

The time does change. When setting up a tournament, I usually have it set to close at 8pm eastern US... When I look at it later, it is about 6 hours different. (earlier, I believe). So it seems to switch it to 8pm Czech time, or 2 or 3pm Eastern US time.

1. March 2004, 05:30:31

or, I should say, it is the time they last moved on the game you are looking at. (If it's not your own game...)

Bernice, it's when they last moved on YOUR game with them..
