Provocations don't work anywhere on BrainKing and never will do. Please don't make me try the "account suspension" feature on you [someone must be the first to try it on him]. I think that we had a deal from the recent past. Take it as the last warning.

I imagine some of the tidbits were interesting to the general readership, but I did not want it evolving into a "the variant I like best is better than the variant you like best" contest.

Both have strong advocates that have at least tried the game more than occasionally. Both have strong followings in their own countries.

Since tournaments were discussed in the midst of the diatribe, this is correct place for the postings. But now I think all that needed to be said was said.

I still don't see the point Caissus. The density of Grandmasters does not, in any way, correspond to the popularity of a chess variant.

36 Grandmasters in the USA and 55 Grandmasters in in the much smaller Germany shows the difference.
After new hard- and software is installed I will try to bring one of them to play here a simultan event, perhaps in Janus or Gothic.

I think that it's fair to everyone that the tournament be started over in 2004! I had 6 wins and 1 game to be decided, so I think I would be affected more than anyone since I had already made it to the 2nd round!!

So my VOTE=A

My message box was full of mail about people who were winning whose games were lost, etc. So, should we just scrap the whole event and just run one in 2004?

Vote:

A - delete the 2003 Tournament
B - keep it, but start it when we get back to 32 rooks and 48 pawns.

My vote = A

Gothic Inventor,

Why not use the $3k that was not awarded to this year's champ to cover the entry fee of the first 60 (if the fee is $50) players into the next one. Or perhaps first for the folks who were in the interrupted one. That certainly seems fair and generous to me. No one would complain about any appearances by you to hoard the funds (and I'm not saying that you are!!).

Our there any BrainKing tourny's such as this planned Fencer? I mean im sure if you were to host a twice yearly one with price money (entry fee ofcourse) it may generate some revenue for BK?

Well Fencer...since you asked...I'm not complaining...nor am I speculating.Gothic Inventer asked and I asked him in return.Maybe I was confused at 1st...but I was under the impression that tourny would be resumed..heck...I'm still confused. But last time I checked....none of the other Tourny's had $3000.00 price tags on them...and only one has been reposted. If Gothic doesn't appreciate my concern or that of others...perhaps he shouldn't ask for our opinions.

Okay, let's finish this topic. The final result is that the 2003 Gothic Chess Championship is cancelled and there is nothing else to do with it. No further discussion can change it.

I called for a vote, and everyone who voted said to kill the 2003 event

If you have a complaint, lodge it with the voters in private and ask them why they wanted it removed.

The 2003 event is gone.

if you don't want to play in 2004, then just don't enter it. There will be no event in 2003, it is mid November already.

12. November 2003, 22:17:29

Hey guys,
what's the problem anyway? Prize tournaments are only an addition to BrainKing features and all of them are created on volunteer basis. The tournament director can define his own rules. Who does not like it, does not have to participate in the tournament.
That's the general rule. There are lots of other tournaments that had disappeared after the crash. Why don't you complain about them too?
