I am forced to finish in second place because of the S-B totals even though the first place winner is rated almost 300 points higher than me. I deserved to have a playoff with him for the tournament title. He and I split our two games so that alone should have been given credence. This feels wrong. I am definitely not a proponent of the S-B.

JerNYC: you played even against eachother, but he won against #4 while you lost against #4 ... that earns him more points

of course you won against #5 and he lost against #5, but you gain less points against #5 than against #4

JerNYC: Which is more impressive, a player who manages to beat another player who won a lot of games, or a player who beats another player who could only manage to win a small number of games?

Anyway, that is the logic of S-B, for better or for worse. People who lose on tiebreaks tend to be unhappy about it, while people who win on tiebreaks seem happy enough....
