Thom27: I like the Windows Messenger-style of Minesweeper. Just shoot and get one point per mine shot. If you shoot a mine, shoot again. (That would make a total different game though)

For Frog Legs it is better to hide the guesses. The version on jijbent.nl http://www.jijbent.nl/java/mijnenveger/index.php (Warning, it's Dutch!) states the guesses are secret which makes it a better game I think. Also there are some more mines added (15 instead of 9). Maybe Frog Legs can be improved so to make it a better game.

This game can last long because of the empty sure shots - giving away no extra information because they always result in a zero. Because guessing costs lots of points, players wo'nt even think about doing such unless they have to... is there any way to prevent this?

I like the jijbent version that checks if a field is already known what's on it, and reveals it. That will make the game a lot quicker.

Sorry, it's weird, but now i do not know it either...

Any else to make Frog Legs better?

Frog Legs... as we know, the game 's a bit boring right now. So why not award points for shooting on numbers? I diunno how many points should be awareded... but here's a idea.

coan.net: I think the MSN rules set for Minesweeper fit best here. No guessing anymore, Just shooting.

coan.net: It's a very great game to play though. Basiccally, of course, it's just minesweeper, although you have to score by shooting mines.

Futhermore, there are some other rules:
The board is 18x18 and has 51 mines (i think!)
if a player shoots a mine, he'll score, and may play again. (This could cause a problem in BK. But there should be a solution. Just pass the game directly back to the player after every move he scores a hit, like Dice Poker Style. If he didn't score a hit, the move is directly passed to the opponent.)
If a player shoots a zero, ALL squares adjadent to that zero will also open, if there are any zeros among them repeat for each one the process. So shooting zeros is very bad, for you opponent has lots of mines to score.

Conclusion, as, especially I read Abigaill's post, we should add more mines (frogs, sorry) and remove guessing. Just shooting.!

Maybe you can subtract points from the penalty.

By the way do you know of the MSN network game Minesweeper? That one is lots faster to play (and had more mines making everyone crazy)

I still would appreciate if Coan submits the Co-Op variant of Frog Finder to Fencer...

:)

coan.net: I have already twice (!) seen a 4. But those were tree of my opponent + 2 of mine.

playBunny: I know something better: If a frog is placed above another frog, both die and the square is colored black. No one gets points. That should be fair.

coan.net: Even with just 9 froggies, this game should still be fun.

coan.net: Yes, perfect! I'ld like to play that, but aren't 9 froggies just few? Should be 11 or 13.

Imagine a Frog pond! Everyone has 10 frogs on a Go board then start brawling with 16 players alike. If you lose all your frogs.. Game over!

BIG BAD WOLF: dresali got a point there. I suggest, if two players submit the same square for a frog, they (the frogs) both die at the beginning of the game (black square).
