The 2009 WSOP: Main Event
The 2009 WSOP Schedule
There are some great features in the upcoming 2009 World Series of Poker.
Whether you are a player or just a fan, there will be a bunch of exciting things to see and do at this year’s series. It begins in May and runs until July.

Championship events in the 2009 WSOP
This year, the WSOP is featuring an unprecedented ten $10,000 World Championship events. You can win the seven card stud championship starting on June 1st, the World Championship Mixed Event starting June 4th, the Omaha 8 championship beginning June 7th, the 2-7 championship on June 10th, as well as championships in hi-lo split, pot limit hold’em, pot limit Omaha, limit hold’em, and of course, the main event, no–limit hold’em.
And let’s not forget the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. championship, also on the schedule again. (The mixed event above is an “8-Game” event, including all the H.O.R.S.E. games plus 2-7 triple draw, no limit hold’em and pot limit Omaha.)

Triple Chance new to the WSOP
A new event that begins on June 28th is called triple chance, and it’s sure to catch on. It’s no limit hold’em with a twist. Each player gets two additional add-ons that they can take at any time. This adds a rebuy element to the game without giving an advantage to wealthier players.
You can keep your add-ons in reserve to protect against bad beats, or get it all on the table to try to build a big stack early. New strategies are sure to develop rapidly in this exciting new game.

November Nine Is Back
Of course, July will bring with it the main event, the $10,000 no limit hold’em event that everyone has been waiting to see. Once again this year, play will be stopped when nine players are reached, in this case on July 15th and players will resume action on November 7th. As in 2008, this is expected to ramp up the excitement for the event and let fans get a chance to know the players before the final of the WSOP 2009.
