 Languages

Ask questions or just talk about different languages. Since BrainKing is an international game site supporting many languages, this board can be kind of useful.

Since we will be dealing with pronunciation of words rather than their spelling, I think it's useful to have a link to The sounds of English and the International Phonetic Alphabet.

To see translations of some frequently used phrases and sentences in other languages see Languages

Teema: Translations
I think another useful addition to the BK dictionary would be somthing "you too" or "likewise".

Great! Although I would prefer an extra link to the dictionary, as I didn't find it until I followed the link in this board - I would possibly never had looked at "more about languages" ;)
edit: I think it may be enough to post a link in the description of this board?

So where can I post the translations of those phrases now? Post them here, send a pm to Fencer?

Teema: Re:
King Reza: Yes! Having different posts is way better than having a thread, because in a thread the posts get so small ;)

Ok, let's start listing:

Good Luck
Thank you
Have fun/Enjoy the game
Good game
Congratulations
Nice move
I enjoyed the game
It was fun playing with you
See you
Hello
Good night

... to be continued (and ordered) :)

Teema: Re:
Walter Montego: It would even be better to put the link to a thread, not to a post! Then we could split it up in different posts. One post for each phrase or one post for each language. I personally think that one for each language would be more comfortable for searching. Also every post could then be made by a native speaker, so that they wouldn't have to be updated by Reza one by one. We would have a representative for every language :)
Great idea, yoyoudax :)

gogul: Suhk isn't german, but very similar to the german "Zug". And "guter Zug" means "good move".

Hrqls: german has 4 and ancient latin 5, they had the ablative!

Teema: Re:
Pedro Martínez: Yes, that's true! Even the almost absent article is inflected - crazy ;) And I made a mistake: for female nouns we don't say "n" but "ne", so only male and neutral are the same. And that just because the original words are both "ein". So I propably have to take back my whole post ;)

Teema: Re:
Pedro Martínez: when speaking loosely we often just say "n" - and that fits for female, male and neutral :)

رضا: yes, both are derived from latin visitare.
edit: not sure about the exact word ;)
