Czuch: What a wacky series, the tribe has blown it,unless DICE-K implodes(and it could happen) they'll take this thing. If DICE-K can give them 5 solid innings they'll be in.

Czuch Chuckers: I've always found it funny how sportscasters navigate the term "nil" in soccer scores in North America.I watched a sportscast the other night and they gave one score as 2-nil and the other as nothing-nothing.
Does nil become nothing when niether side score?

Walter Montego:If our pitching was even average we'd be running away with our division right now.Other than Halliday and Chacin it has been very shakey, our closer has been untouchable though.

Emne: Re: Blue Jays versus the Angels
Walter Montego: Towers might not even be in the rotation by then,an interesting stat regarding his season though,if you eliminate 5 innings from his season his era is about 2.13.I am aware this could be the case with a few other hard luck pitchers though.

Emne: Re: French Canadians prefer us Yanks to their own?
Walter Montego: Yes 9 teams this year. There are a few people ready to take over Ottawa but the league has suspended operation for this coming season. My guess is that they will move Winnipeg over to the Eastern Division for this season.Geographically none of the teams in the Eastern Division are legally in the east but then again Winnipeg isn't legally in either east or west

25. April 2006, 09:43:33
The Col
Emne: Re: French Canadians prefer us Yanks to their own?
Walter Montego: The league itself has been thriving for about 5 years. In its euphoria it took on Ottawa(a team that folded about a decade prior)but other than that bad decision things have never been better for the league.I am in conflict with what would happen to my good old Argos if and when we get an NFL team.I remember seeing Joe Thiesmans first game in Toronto back in 71 and have been a big fan for as long as I can remember. As a compromise they should name the team The Toronto Argonauts as a way of retaining that part of this citys rich football history, they are afterall the oldest football team in North America.I'm not really in conflict with Rose but a casual fan upon hearing Ottawa being suspended(not folded)for one year could get the impression that the league is in peril.

25. April 2006, 09:04:10
The Col
Emne: Re: French Canadians prefer us Yanks to their own?
Walter Montego:The Epos were all we had from 69-76.I was never a fan though,I tend to root for teams located in my city.I was lucky enough to attend the first Blue Jays game ever played and am a big fan.Not sure what Rose's angle on the central vs east issue was but I'll bet she'd take issue with you insinuating she's a Newfie more than she would calling Toronto east.East coasters tend to not like being lumped together.I also want to clarify another thing I saw mentioned, the Canadain Football League(CFL) has never been stronger.Ottawa has suspended opperation for this comming season but they were an expansion team hat was mismanaged. All the other teams are thriving better than ever.Toronto has ben trying for an NFL team for years,it may happen within the next 10 years and we would and could support one.

Emne: Re: French Canadians prefer us Yanks to their own?
Walter Montego: I was actually considering using the divisons used in the major sports leagues as one of the few times you actually see such strict use of geographical seperation.I would hate to see you get funny looks from Canadians when you tell them you want to catch a game out in central Canada

Emne: Re: Anybody want a 55 million dollar pitcher who can't seem to pitch?

Emne: Re: French Canadians prefer us Yanks to their own?
Rose: With all due respect I have never in my entre life heard anyone in Canada refer to coming to Toronto as heading central.Out west we are considered the wicked east and they aint talkin about Halifax.I agree that geographically we are designated as central but nobody refers to us as that, and especially not an Americans From my experience Manitoba is the province where the term "east" kicks in

Czuch Chuckers:He's off to see Dr.Andrews,Dr. to the stars. The initial report from the Jays medical staff is that it's the scar tissue thing again but who knows what Andrews will say,he's been put on the 15 day injury list for now.

Czuch Chuckers: It's about a 6 hour drive to Montreal from Toronto.I've been to one Expo game(against the Sox after the strike ended years ago)and a few hockey games. It's a nice town if you don't tell them you're english Canadian, they prefer english Americans.

Czuch Chuckers: Come to Toronto this weekend bud,I'll meet you for a beer, should be another interesting series. My brother inlaw told me about what a tough ticket Fenway is,it kinda reminded me of how Leaf fans would find it cheaper to travel to Carolina for playoff tickets. It turned out to be cheaper and easier than getting a ticket in town, and that includes gas and hotel.
