Tuesday: You can excel at anti-chess (and chess too, why not) but having not knowledge about chess is not a help for playing well antichess. There isn´t a logic relation between "i am bad at <gameX>" -> "i am good at "anti<gameX>" This implication is false (generally) It´s just a matter of practice. I´m sure you could play very well, play and learn.
for months now, ive noticed the friends list on main page etc, and friends list will show people doing something 10 minutes or so ago, or even show they are not online, and still says that even though they may have just posted on a board etc....
I did bring this up ages ago, but nowt was said.. others have noticed this recently also
I've noticed, that the list of the best players regarding the sum of their established ratings is calculated including games in which the player has been inactive during the last 6 months.
Is that really intended? Wouldn't it be better to exclude such games (as done for the game specific lists of best players)?
I would also wonder, whether Pools should count for this list.
I've finished 8 of the 12 11 point matches with 7 day time control. But there are 2 in which my opponent and I have made only 11 or 12 moves in almost 3 months of play. At that rate, the first round will take 5 or 6 years.
Fencer: I think Marfitalu is requesting for the match games table to include the current game... maybe with something like "game in progress", instead of the winner name
Fencer Re: can people buy vacation days ? 20. August 2005, 04:48:07
Jason: Well, it wasn't officially announced yet but if you extend your membership by another year, the vacation counter would be reset to the original value (30 for Brain Rooks, etc.) instead of waiting for the 1st January.
This would seem to answer it from the top. It also says that on January 1st all the BrainRook counters get reset to 30 days. Someone asked if you could exceed 30 days and Fencer answered no to that question.
Let's see there's 52 weekend days off. 30 vacation days. Plus a time limit of 7 days. In theory two players could take the whole year to move a couple of times, eh? And I've seen 30 and 21 day limit tournaments. Amazingly, quite a few of them have finished. It gets down to the people involved more so than the rules and parameters.
Vacation days are renewed at the beginning of each year, but as BBW and a few others pointed out around 15 December 2005 on this board, if you renew your membership in the middle of the year, the vacation days are reset.
>I haven't renewed my membership and i had 0 vacation days. But now i see that i have 30 new ones. Why is that? I guess because of the start of a new year. So is it true that vacation days are initialize to 30 at the start of any new year?
Also if at the middle of a year someone renew his membership, will vacation days also be initialized to 30 again?
fismoluni: as i believe its 30 days in the new year and then if you use them all up you can get another 30 days if membership is renewed later in the year
Mrs.Reeves: It might be better if you use a proper board next time - Backgammon or Tournaments. This board should be reserved for more general questions.
Mrs.Reeves: From the rules page:
"Crawford rule: If a player reaches a score which is only 1 point away from winning the match, the next game is played as a Crawford round. In a Crawford round, the double cube is not used. If this round is finished and the match is not completed, the doubling cube can be used in all following games of the match."
That match is 1 point away from over. So the Crawford rule applies I think
