Wanna see how plays a "clean player"? See this game! It was won for me, after a hard fight. Skinny congratulated me for that. But, while talking to a friend, I made a stupid mistake, and lost it. Skinny noticed it, asked me what happened, and when I told him, he offered me the draw! That's what a great player do!

I resigned the game, because it was my mistake, but preciate skinny's attitud. That's because of players like skinny that BK it's still a good site.

Yeah, programs are such an idiot way to win games. I can't understand why some people do it! I have my own theory, but I'll tell it to you in some other place, where my words can't be deleted, Mr. Darles. ;)

I like to play against some good players because I trully believe they are "fair players" and I can always learn something with them. I believe they also like to play with me.

Emne: Re: Question About the Rules of International Checkers
Tilpasset af Gabriel Almeida (12. Februar 2009, 14:30:55)

MrWCF: This rule also exist in other variants, like in Portuguese checkers, and it does matter, sometimes. The question is that you can only jump once over each piece, in your move. To guarantee that you respect this, the "mechanism" is that the jumped pieces are only removed in the end of your move. If pieces were removed just after jumped, you would be ignoring that rule.

I don't know if I was clear: the question is not the piece taked (jumped) twice. The question is that a taked (jumped) piece works like a "wall" - that's the spirit of that rule!

Stardust: 3334 is a lucky guy! ;)

John Toomey, you are right. And IYT it's not the only place where it happens: in REAL LIFE (well, I'm talking in classic checkers case), those are "draw rules" wich are described and used. And some other rules are available (Once again, I'm talking in classic checkers): with 3 queens, one of them in the "main central line" (We call it "the river", in Portugal) Vs 1 queen, you have only 12 moves to win the game. Or if you have 2 queens and a pawn, Vs 1 queen, you have 20 moves to move your pawn, or it is a draw.

Emne: Re:

Undertaker.: Yes. For your BKR, we can easilly understand it is a draw. Sometimes a player can loose the game for is "hunger", so... I think Manuel M is right, you just have to repeat your moves, and then ask Fencer to draw the game. And, if Brady really wants to win it... well, just wait to see what he'll do to win it. Sometimes this is a good way to YOU to win it. Someone that tries to win always take more risks... defending it's easier. Take this advantage. Just remember: HE wants to win it, not you. So... it's "stupid" if it is you to take the risks, just to force it to accept the draw.

Good game! ;)

Emne: Re: Help is Needed
The Usurper: But you should be pessimist, Usurper. Undertaker is wright, Fencer simply HATES checkers. I don't think he introduces games where he's the boss, but I believe he runs for "comercial reasons"! Dice games are stupids. I think that everybody with some kind of inteligence in his/her head can understand that we can't compare Chess or checkers or reversi, to gammon's, Ludo's, or other stupid games like un incredible "Dice chess". But those are the most played games. They "sell" (in) brainking. So, checkers get weaker... adding to Fencers hate to the game, he is not a "commercial success". And now, I must agree with Undertaker: for checkers lovers, there's no chances in Brainking.
Well, but in other sites things are different. ItsYourTurn, Kurnik or Ludoteka. In Ludoteka, for example, checkers are "queens" of the site. Classic checkers are the most played game, but you can play all those great variants that Fencer avoid in Brainking. That's a good option, I think (and a lot of checkers players from brainking can be found there, too).
Well (and resuming),Brainking is a great site, for almost all games... but not for checkers! ;)

Emne: Re: It's Here!
The Usurper: Don't you think brainking should have some very imprtant checkers variants? It have some "ridiculous ones" (forgive me those who like them, but... they aren't really played nowhere), like parachute checkers, One way checkers, corner checkers... and brainking forgives some very played variants, with international federations, and popular for millions of people... I must insist in some very important like Classic, Intnational, Russian, Italian and brasilien ceckers. I play in some other games site where classic checkers is the most played game, can you imagine? And they have backgammon, american checkers, breaktrough, a lot of card games... in Portugal (where I live in), classic checkers it's the most common game, much more popular than chess or domino. Noone plays checkers unless classic or international checkers.
It's because of that that I'm leaving brainking, or playing much less here, and playing much more in another site. By the way, I'm finding a lot of "brainking checkers lovers" there. It's nice!

Emne: Re: It's Here!
The Usurper: The use of that word ("CLASSIC") may create a confusion with the very popular variant, in Portugal, Spain, all magebin countries and some latin-american countries, called "Classic checkers". BTY, this is a very interesting variant. Like International checkers or Russian Checkers are, don't you think?

I’m sure some players with good ratings don’t cheat. They are: Ferjo, Sobek, Undertaker, Faethon, Wismazstr, Fontal... Only Undertaker is rook. Well, do someone think Fencer would banish brain knight or brain rook? I don’t think so. These are the rules, and those who doesn't like them should go...

(I think that's what I'll do... anyway, I've seen this happenning in IYT, Chu thought the same way as Fencer is doing now. Nowadays, IYT is a "desert island". I hope BK history be different...)

Stardust, it's so easy to understand all this, isn't it? sobek: This system is good for the kind of players we have here, sobek. Interested in a position, even if it means nothing.

Anyway, a bad rating system is unfair, but not so much as using programs, or asking friends to play their games.

Oh, and Stardust is right: who cares about BKR? In a "place" where people get happy for winning for timeout, it's everything already said! Once again, "BK system" supports that, there's no option to ask to our oponnent to re-instate the game...

(Maybe Fencer have been too much time in USA, and really catched their ideas...)

Mysterio619: Only a few players are "silenced" here. Even glob mod's keep on with Mr. Purple "way" (or politics). There are a few couples and friends keeping "Brainking System" (that's like in politic, precisly), and other ones are silenced or ignored.

This is all about Checkers! There are some "strategic pieces", and than the others. The first ones command the game...

I've noticed some checkers players are in that fellowship, maybe I could learn more about the game with you. I saw (also) that our mods in this DB are the most active members of it, so... it's almost a "second home" for checkers players.
Unfortunatelly, a lot of great checkers players are not here (and there), I still don't know why (I have my opinion about that, but nevermind...), but I hope this can change. I dream with that glorious day when We will be all great friends, again! As a family!

Besides, it's clear for me that some checkers players don't feel confortable here. It's a fact that Purple and his co-mod's are friends, and (as any other "group" in brainking) have better relations with some other groups, and worst with some others. I think my inclusion could contribute for a largest "meeting" of checkers "sensibilities"... I don't know if I'm explaining myself in proper therms...
