Emne: Draw by repetition
A draw was incorrectly claimed by my opponent.
According to fide laws a player must claim a draw at the time. At the time the draw was adjudicated the claimed of repetition wasn't valid as I had deviated from the repetition prior to the claim.
Also poor form from my opponent as I explained that it was an invalid claim and they are exploiting someone who doesn't understand the rules of chess!!!

The rule say this is how to finish the game ends and that condition isn't met.

HOW many times has stalemate happened???
It is obvious a very unlike occurence given the nature of the game!

Maybe the person who wrote that rule isn't "smart enough" to realise that stalemate is a possible outcome :P

Something may seem common sense, but someone had a go at me for not knowing that linetris wasn't connect 4 and told me to read the rules.

The phrase "how to finish the game" is very clear in meaning and creates the assumption that that all finishing scenario will be covered under the clause! Ask any competent lawyer to look at those rule and they should see that there is a problem, if you tell them that these rules adequately cover the stalemate possibility accurately!

Stalemate should be arguably not permitted like is the case with check or the game end in a paradox, as one player has no legal move and the so called end conditions are not met.

How can a game that hasn't met the finish condition be over?

Some games don't end if you can't move, you have to pass! e.g. Lines of Action/backgammon/Ludo

The rules mention "How to finish the game" and it is an omission to not mention the possibility of stalemate.

It is reasonable to expect the game is not finished when the conditions are not met?

Since check is forbidden, why assume stalemate is the same when there is a section on how the game end that could include stalemate and doesn't mention stalemate?

The rules need amending, had the rule been clear I would have played another move!

"the game is finished..." if stalemate is consider to end the game it should be mentioned, it was not probably by accident because it was not considered by the games creator/author of the rule on this site.
The game should not end if you haven't fulfilled the "finishing conditions!"

Emne: racing kings
"The game is finished if one player moves own king to the last row. However, when white moves his king to the last row, and black moves directly after that also his king to the last row, the game is a draw, in order to compensate white player's advantage of making the first move."

Racing Kings (wasa vs. thisbeme) ended with stalemate which is logical but not mention in the rules!!

Emne: plakoto
For years I said that plakoto had a bug and was told there was "not a bug!"
Nobody told me to switch the setting.

It seems that the small board does display the game so you know which piece is covered and which is doing the the covering. Small board does look really ugly btw. Large board still has the same bug of hiding the pieces and not showing which piece is covered and by how many (unless fixed while my post was written)! Only trial and error or playing through the game history would tell you what is going on!
Why the big board doesn't function as the small board is annoying I wasted a lot of time using trial and error to work out what going on!

Aganju: I know this now, but the clock in the corner and timestamp of the message saying I ran out of time showed local time and date!!
Other than timing out how am I to know i will time out when the time says it is still weekend? It isn't like there was a clear advanced warning or the situation wouldn't have happened.
Why have a feature that is apparently implemented in such a way as to cause people to timeout while online and not be able to load the page intermittently.

It is fundamentally unfair to timeout down to an error with how the site if implemented.
Until other comments I thought the problem was at my end, but if the site is inaccessible because I chose a timing option offered by this site, then it is an issue with brainking.

If you are going to timeout at 11pm on your weekend and have intermittent periods where the site won't load because you select your own time then that function should go until it is fixed!

Pedestrian's post below explains the principle very nicely.
Draughts often can allow a move to be completed in 2 clicks, 1 click to move and 1 for the confirmation "move" button. If a piece only has one possible move then clicking on that piece will automatically move it to the only possible square.

Don't visit forum, check message or respond to in games messages when going for the record,
Gammon games with autopass and the right opponents can do wonders!
Checkers has a low click per move ratio if you click the piece with one legal move.
Double every gammon game with the cube at the start it stops you getting asked to roll the dice each time.
Ludo is naturally a good candidate.
Mancala as a silly game that is won for the starter, so no need to be concerned if you lose.
Horde chess another unbalanced game that doesn't need much thinking.
Pahtum another game needs little thinking!
Any game that is hopelessly lost, politeness would say resign, but these are perfect for the goal of most move in a day and a bonus you get to really annoy your opponent should they timeout! If achievement for most moves exist sthen not resigning is understandable that they will be used because they can't messed up so no disappointment for losing a game that is lost.
Although there is someone who plays and has all the most move achievement always plays until mate, is just insulting.
Dice poker if you preroll your dice and don't move, instead save the games until you are making your attempt and you have a move that can be made quickly.
Don't mind that stupid errors will be made, at the speed necessary to complete 10,000moves!
If you have a rating you care about don't use that as a game to attempt the record with!

The is a difference between a knockout tournament that has started and a tournament that hasn't started.

I forgot what a pain being a pawn was!
When I started here I withdrew from a prize tour to play another prize tour and won it, only to find that I wasn't going to get the prize because the prize was over multiple games :( !
Multi tournament free prize events are a tease. Pawns shouldn't be allowed to enter events they can't win.

Cyan = forever + 75 of forever = 2 membership forever?

Marshmud:

I timed out hundreds of games because I couldn't login into the site gateway 502 error and this was the only site I could not access so I thought that the site was down so the server would disable the timeout (losing about 15000 rating points). After that I wasn't motivated to play because of this for a bit which used up vacation. Also timing out by minutes because of the you are not the starter click pass BUG doesn't help. The lack motivation and boredom at continuously clicking pass lead to further timeouts.

Anyway that is all ancient history other than that if someone I care about has a problem or my internet fails I'll possibly lose a few timeout due to no vacation, but things are a lot different now.

Plenty of players have double my number of games or more.

Mancala any legal series moves for a player on 25 pts or more wins yet the game is forced to be played out and the loser can get a timeout victory due to the BUG in the game!
Chess a player can play on with bare king and get awarded a win due to to a BUG in variants where a lone king can't win. Playing on for months until checkmate is very disrespectful yet is common. If most move in a day is an "achievement" having a game you can't screw up the result is going to perversely reward playing on till mate.

These above issues/bugs will slow my play down needlessly.

It is news to me that anyone enters an event that has a particular time limit and is surprised that time is used. There are many opportunity to play 1 day a move or even less and no vacation games.
Anyone who plays in the real world knows it is normal to use the time you have as you see fit!

In any case I wasn't given a chance to respond to the message before they continue having a go because I don't immediately look at the latest message (usually a request for players for tournament, teams and ponds)..
Spamming/harassing someone who doesn't reply within a day is clearly uncalled for.

3 fold repetition can/has to be claimed of this site?

Me personally I don't think there is much benefit to 50 move/3 fold repetition claims not being handled automatically on the server. If you reach a position where you have a valid claim that can be made against you the odds of you winning are very tiny anyway.
If there is a claim draw button, I haven't noticed it.

It is not part of the game to win on time with a lone king,

It is irrational to award a timeloss if that if playing the worst possible moves would still win or draw.
You can claim a draw in a quickplay finish, if the player isn't trying to win by normal means.

This site has a 1000/2000 move/most moves in a day achievement. This means that lost games are more likely played on when the game if no longer entertaining.
The Laws of chess are clear the lone King never wins.
ICCF doesn't envisage a player playing on with bare king and there is no incentive to play on with a bare king. My suspicion is a bare king on ICCF wouldn't get the point and if it did the rule would change. They have rules envisaging the possiblity of adjudication and backdating time extension.

Implementing the Laws of Chess can't be that hard there numerous open source programs that correctly detect 3 fold repetition, 50 move rule and insufficent mating material.

As to why so many game.
When I was a pawn and later a knight I tried to enter prize tournament only to be denied due to no unrated players being allowed.
When my knight was about to go back to a pawn I entered as many tournaments as I would be severely restricted as a pawn.

It is perverse that the pawn can in theory win higher membership, only to be denied entry to free prize event due to lack of rating and the ratings take ages to get because of restriction on games.

This issue isn't about me, it is about whether a player who can't obtain the victory conditions of a game on the board should gain victory on the clock.

If someone really doesn't understand they are totally lost or really wants a game to accumulate moves fine, but anyone who thinks they should get a so called "timeout win" when it is impossible to achieve the game victory condition is IMO a bit pathetic..

Would this site be better if chess rules were correctly implemented?
Would it be better if you didn't have to make to click pass or enter the only legal move available?
My understanding is Fencer actually wants to improve this site and can only do that with constructive feedback.

Emne: Truely bizarre
I've been informed that timing out even if in a position that is theoretically impossible to lose (like if facing a bare king at chess) is always a loss here!!

The laws of chess are clear that this scenario should be a draw.

It is insane to reward a player with more than they would get, if their opponent made the theoretically worst plays.

Also why isn't auto pass extended to all games will only one legal move/no legal moves?
On a related matter I don't need to acknowledge that I've lost the initial dice roll any more than I acknowledge that I go 2nd in other games.
Passing and making only moves is a big waste of time.

Didn't realise I clicked send damn trackpad, I will try to tell the whole story!

First I had counted on at least able to get wifi in the airport while in transit (to try and save the fischer time game that I couldn't protect while midair) but all the time was spent having to queue for border security for a nation I wasn't even visiting.
Then when I got online I couldn't access my account. When I got my password issues sorted out I got an http error message when accessing brainking until today (I had to access the site[once I realised it wasn't down again] via a really unrealiable proxy connection that took 10 MINUTES TO MAKE A MOVE AT LOGIK (even when I knew what guess I wanted to do within seconds!!!! This was prior to the resolution of the 504 error I was getting on only this site)!!
What was annoying was losing winning or equal position in a prize tourney and games which I was very high rated in and concentrated on saving (If I had 800 timeout in none-prize none rating crippling games I would have considered it a reasonable outcome in the circumstances). Those important timeouts were during the period I was communicating with fencer to sort out my access. Ironically several games were also timeouts with only one legal move!!

Several times I've been denied access to prize tournaments because of not having a rating and when I was knight I had to enter every tournament I could to try and get a rating causing a backlog of games.
Didn't realise I had vacation as I was discovering the marvel of fischer time where I could lose just 90 minutes odd after an opponent had moved! Guess that the disadvantage of the automatic vacation had I know I would have saved many game had I known I was saving games that were lost anyway by using vacation
The stupid thing was about denying unrated players the ability to play a tournament is that you make sockpuppetry or resigning on mass the optimal strategy to gain a rating quickly (though not the efriendly/ethical thing to do).
