Oh well.

Emne: Re:
LuckyCat9: Well concidering Thanksgiving is basically a holiday for America I don't have a question as to why Fencer.. who is Czech doesn't recognize it.. I also don't question why a majority of the world population doesn't recognize Christmas/Chanukah either.. due to that holiday season being determined due to religion..

Emne: Re:
LuckyCat9: Thanksgiving is only a US holiday - this is a "world" site, so many members do not celebrate Thanksgiving. (And if US gets their own holidays, then other countries would want their own holidays, etc.....)

So it looks like Fencer only has Christmas & New Years as holidays.

BIG BAD WOLF: I see purple stuff for holidays on the settings, no names though (unless hidden some how!) Why Thanksgiving and Chanukah/Christmas aren't included is beyond me...

LuckyCat9: I just individually clicked each month.. yes.. I know the long way! LOL I only really saw one public holiday and that would be Christmas.. I think since this is an Internet site.. and is not limited to one country or to a set religion.. I think it was decided to not show a prejudice on particular holidays which are limited to either the Country or the Religion that one might be related with..

LuckyCat9: I do not think there are site holidays anymore, are there?

Since everyone has the option of vacation days, and everyone in different places have different holidays - I was thinking Fencer got rid of them all.

On your calendar (settings/calendar), if you can't tick the days, they're holidays. Like the weekends. Shaded in pink & purple.

Is there a list somewhere that tells you which holidays are site holidays? This q&a could be avoided.

The answer was no complete sentence either and even entirely silent but I have to thank for the domain cookies being folded back now, especially nice that google syndicate google analytics google allmighty do not aggravate me anymore even before I have logged in. It is not that I would mind officials addicted to controlling every breathe I take, people disappearing to come back neutered, etc. that is daily business here in China and we love it as long as we have the fastest trains. Good to see brainking back on rail also. Praise the leader.

Fencer: Is there something about the internet backbone coming out of the Czech Republic that causes this problem? If the problem is not with the site itself, then it must be somewhere between the site and the rest of the world, because there is certainly a problem.

Emne: Network
Before anybody posts a complaint about site being down, I would like to announce it is NOT down but the Who is online page containing only Czech and Slovak flags suggests that the international network line is probably down.
Which is a good example of a situation we are NOT responsible of and we can do nothing with it. We can only send a complaint to our serverhousing provider and ask him to have a look at it.
What I want to say is - in 95% of cases, BrainKing is up but the line is down.

Since today I have to switch off my Norton Internet Security to become able to see the BrainKing web pages.

Please keep in mind BrainKing is still running on its original machine which is not as fast as I would like to have. Moreover, the site is changing very often and the traffic and load is increasing, so what was the optimal code a year ago doesn't have to be the most optimal code now. And since any change is very sensitive, cannot be done within a day.
I think the most important thing is that the site is up and running most of the time (and from my point of view, it's running almost continuously but I understand that network issues can make it different for international users).
Just don't panic, everything is under control.
